Mahoosive-bazoomered Nanny does whatever a parent can't
The media never gets tired of dragging the videogames industry through the mill, particularly if it's for the sake of a few sage pieces of advice from an expert.

First childcare megastar Dr Tanya Byron came to the earth-shattering conclusion that "violent videogames are harmful to children, but it's the parents fault they've got them in the first place" and tomorrow night, Supernanny Jo Frost will also tackle the thorny subject of kids and videogames - and how to limit Little Johnny or Jenny's intake to acceptable levels.

Tune in, Channel 4, tomorrow night (Tuesday 9th February) at 9pm.

Just make sure the kids are in bed.

Interesting factoid: I actually thought she was married to funnyman Nick Frost simply because he does the voiceovers for her show - but (hah) they've never even met. Oh dear.

@ NY

She looks strangely hot from a distance, but rough up close.

True.

I know peej must like her; she's got that whole bespectacled authoritarian thing going on :)

Sort of.

She's like Bayonetta if Bayonetta ate a ton of ringdings.

I don't really like authoritative women. Too much like hard work :)

Oh Come On!
That's the focus of her test?
God knows its not the years of guidance and training the parents that raised these little demons that made them not pick up the pens, it was Modern Warfare Two. Ramirez! Pick Up Those Pens!

Those kids better have been within the age group of that game that was tested, otherwise she's only causing a problem. "My name is brandon and i'm 8 years old, now super nanny is gunna let me play GTAIV, where i can see Beeg American Teeties with my cousin Roman!"

@NewYork: What??? Ork is spot on, his/her second comment is poorly written, but seriously, I really hate it when they do crap tests like these and try to convince or reenforce the idea to people that video games drastically change who you are. They don't, at most you'll be a little less out going because it CAN become a time consuming hobby, but its not like drugs where you become dependant on them to LIVE! ... getting a little off topic but ya. This PROBABLY wouldn't bother me much, except I know there's going to be a whole squad of pareants who will take this seriously!

I honestly have no idea what test you and Ork are taking about.

I keep re-reading the article and it's about Jo Frost doing a program on how to limit your kids' gaming time.

Had a look on the 4Player thingy and..

basically the whole crux of the test was to get a group of kids who played FIFA in one room, and a group of kids playing something violent in another room.

Then whisk them to another room where someone drops a tin of pencils on the floor. The kids who were playing FIFA rushed to help the person pick the tin of pencils up, whereas the kids who played the violent game didn't lift a finger to help the clumsy pencil dropper.

Conclusion: It's OK to let your kids play violent videogames but don't expect them to help you tidy up if you drop stuff!

LOL

Indicentially, now The Church (note the Capital Letters) has jumped on the 'Gaming Is Evil' bandwagon, with someone claiming that: "There is a bubbling sewer of gratuitously violent and sexual pornography and DVD games all around us."

Well, I've never seen any pornographic games - certainly nothing any worse than Page 3 of The Sun.

Same old issue though - ignorant or dis-interested parents allowing Little Johnny to play MW2 and wonder why he likes shooting stuff.
