With a no show at this year's E3 (again) and a distinct lack of any new footage since the teaser trailer a year and a bit ago, it's never looked that great for Beyond Good and Evil 2.

Now, French gaming site WOOT.com is reporting that Michel Ancel and Ubisoft have parted company, killing off the project for good in the process. Ancel is now forming his own French development studio independent of Ubisoft, who will retain the Beyond Good and Evil IP (and probably do bugger all with it, alas).

Ubisoft still confirmed the game's existence earlier this year, but if the rumours on WOOT are true, we'll probably never find out what happened to Jade and Pey'j. Dagnabit.
