Ubisoft today confirmed that it's developing high-definition versions of the first three Splinter Cell games. That's Splinter Cell, Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory for the uninitiated.

No format or release window has been announced as of yet, but this news follows on from the recent confirmation that it's also working on a remake of the popular Beyond Good and Evil, as well as the first three Prince of Persia titles which are imminent on PSN. Ubisoft clearly thinks it's onto a winner here and other publishers, no doubt EA and Activision in particular, will be watching this very closely to see if it's a bankable formula.

We'd love to see high def re-makes of Rallisport Challenge 2, Jet-Set Radio, Shenmue and the original Halo. Of course the key element that will hugely influence the success or failure of this initiative will be how publishers price these re-makes. Make them sensibly priced digital downloads, priced at around £10 each and they're surely onto a winner.

What do you think? What games would you like to see re-released and how much would you pay to own them again in HD with online multiplayer and achievements?
