 - Need for Speed Most Wanted, EA, Criterion, Burnout Paradise 2, I've just laid an autolog

There are so many things in life that splice beauty with sheer ugliness. That hot girl smoking a cigarette. The one with the massive body tattoos that are going to make her look like the world's biggest inkstain by the time she's 40. Or even Burnout Paradise 2 accidentally being called Need for Speed Most Wanted. Sticking the monicker of a previous game in the NFS series on a game that epitomises Criterion's approach to the Burnout series might seem a bit odd, but it's ended up being the biggest (and possibly most welcome) surprise of E3 this year (in a show where there were very few).

So what has Criterion achieved by the back door? A game that, as soon as you see it running, recalls what some (not me) regard as the finest edition in the Burnout franchise to date.

That's not to say that I don't love the very arse off this. Burnout Paradise, improved with even more over the top crashes, cop chasing and real-world supercars being smashed to little pieces? What's not to love?

Couple that with the most anal iteration of the Autolog stats-gathering framework to date (that records absolutely EVERYTHING you do in Burnout Paradise 2...er...I mean Need for Speed Most Wanted 2012) and this is shaping up to be one of those games that makes you almost want to forgive EA for being insufferable gamer-hating cuntbags.

I dunno, the focus on cop chases puts it firmly under the NFS banner, IMO
