Well this came out of nowhere!

In what's come as a massive surprise to many, Activision has released an iPhone / iPod Touch version of its brilliant Call of Duty: World at War zombie mode.

For those of you that haven't played it, the game basically tasks you with surviving for as long as possible beating off zombie hordes from inside a barricaded building. Zombies will break through the windows and it's upto you and your team-mates to fight them off, repairing the damaged windows before buying additional weapons and upgrades as you progress.

Featuring Co-Op support over bluetooth and Wi-Fi for online multiplayer action, you can play with up to 3 other players and as you can see from the video below it actually looks quite brilliant (for an iPhone game).

With dual stick, tilt and swipe controls, as awesome a surprise as this undoubtedly is, I'm still not convinced that FPS games work on the iPhone. See the lovely but flawed Eliminate as an example. But, I'm sure this will still sell by the bucketload regardless. You can buy it from the link below for the not-so-bargain price of £5.99.
