For most gamers, the closest they will ever come to contact with a simulator game is clocking it out of the corner of their eye at their local shop, thinking to themselves;
“Who the hell buys these games?”
Well, I’m that guy.
I love simulator games. I spend a lot of time playing them and I’m not ashamed to admit it. Anything from running a ski resort, trucking up the rainy M6, or grinding the hours in an underground train. I’m there with bells on.
Simulator games are easy to poke fun at. Take a look at any popular Youtube “Lets Play” channel, or Twitch TV game stream, and there is a high chance you’ll see at least one simulator game being featured. The reason for this is pretty simple. These games never have the high budgets of Call of Halowares or the community following of Minecraft sensations. So most of the time they’re easy whipping boys. Unfortunately Agricultural Simulator 2013 does nothing but add fuel to that fire.
At the forefront of any game is the framerate. If you can’t manage a steady 60fps on medium settings on most household systems, you’re going to be in for a rough time. Now my set up is far from bleeding edge, but the build I was given barely manages 30 fps on the lowest of settings. Even the most apologetic of gamer would deem that unplayable. It’s a real shame, as when you crank up the settings, it really doesn’t look half bad.
I had to switch back to one monitor to review the game. For some reason the mouse doesn't stay in-game and wanders off to another screen then force minimises itself. I had hoped that doing so would fix the camera from constantly panning left. It didn’t. Frustrating isn’t the word.
Framerate annoyances and frustrating graphical glitches aside, this title has an uphill struggle to compete with the solid, enjoyable well established Farming Simulator franchise.
In my opinion, it doesn’t stand a chance.

I still really like Zookeeper, but then you've probably already played that to death on a DS or something? Treasures of Montezuma seems to be highly rated and I've had a lot of fun with Super Juicy wh...
