Resident Evil 5 was something of a departure for the RE series.
While the hugely popular 4th instalment brought action to the fore, stylishly combining controlled gunplay with the series' trademark creepiness, the most recent offering focused perhaps a little too much on the action. With way too many quicktime events and action set-pieces diluting the quality of the overall experience, it left a bitter taste in the mouth of many of the series' traditionalists. All of which was understandable given the prevalence of games such as Call of Duty, Killzone, Uncharted, Gears of War et al.
But if the new trailer released this week by Capcom for Resident Evil 6 is anything to go by, it looks like we're in for a welcome return to the series' schlocky, camp, horror roots.
Check it out.
