Gaming rivalry turns bloody offscreen Gaming frustration has claimed another life, in Novosibirsk, Russia. An innocent two-player Counter-Strike turned ugly when Alexei, aged 17, was brutally murdered by Alexander, his 14-year-old opponent.
The Novosibirsk Prosecutor's Office website states only that two teenagers were involved in the incident, on May 19th of last year. The site states that fistfights broke out between the pair during a heated night of Counter-Strike, and that upon leaving the cyber café the guilty teen beat up the victim, jumping up and down on his chest until the victim died on the scene.
Further online reports state that the two lads were playing Counter-Strike together at a local cyber café. As the younger Alexander kept losing to his rival, fights began to break out, which were broken up by the café's administrator. The boys continued to play through the night, fuelled by alcohol.

Alexander had left the café first. When Alexei left the café at 3:00am, Alexander was waiting for him with an older friend. Alexander whacked Alexei in the head with a brick repeatedly till Alexander was incapacitated.
Residents discoevered Alexi's body the next morning.
Alexander has been found guilty and sentenced to only four years in juvenile prison, as the death was ruled as accidental, despite the severity of the attack.
