Joseph Johnson, aged 28, from Chicago, is facing first-degree murder charges for allegedly killing a man while they played games together on an Xbox 360.

Johnson and Danny Taylor, aged 24, were allegedly playing video games at an apartment when tension escalated and they got into a fight. This led to Johnson allegedly shooting Taylor in the back of the head.

None For MultiformatTaylor's girlfriend found the victim dead at his home on April 5th. Before entering, she saw the suspect running out of the door with a gun in his hand. She found Taylor with gunshot wounds in the back of his head: the joypad was still in his hand, and the game still running, say the police.

Sources reckon the game being played at the time of the murder was possibly "Call of Duty": a game which tasks players with violently shooting each other in a tense war-like situation.

According to Chicago police, Johnson was also wanted on a North Carolina fugitive warrant.

The guy who said the article has a "few floors" makes some good points, actually :)

Just to confirm: according to the chick, they were all playing games together. The woman left the house for a while, and then came back to this scene.

So the theory that the killer just came in and killed the guy on the spot is probably out.

But, yeah COD ain't multiplayer (locally) so the argument probably wasn't over winning/losing :)

The sad thing here is that, the whole thing makes it look like, the guy killed the other guy because he played Call Of Duty, they had a row and the murderer would have done it irrespective of weather he played COD or not.

Re this line

" a game which tasks players with violently shooting each other in a tense war-like situation."

How do you non-violently shoot someone? Or was that phrasing simply done to try push an agenda?

how can they even try to blame this on CoD, the fact that this idiot had a gun on him in the first place and that he had a warrant out for his arrest kinda says it all.

Good article, although I couldn't help notice the irony of an article bemoaning the US-centric nature of MS' presentation, written by someone called New York ;P...
