Originally released in May 2012, You Have to Win the Game has now arrived on Steam with a more difficult remixed campaign and Playable Cat DLC (you only get nine lives, of course).

It's a completely free exploration platformer with a delicious retro 1980s PC aesthetic, seriously it's so damn pretty, It even does that CRT corner bend thing and made my wizened old heart flutter with joy.

You'll be running, jumping, and avoiding deadly pitfalls as you explore the ruins of a lost world in search of hidden treasures and rare artifacts with no map, this is truly old school people.

If you are clinically insane and want an even tougher challenge you can try the YOLO mode, You only live once and if you die it's right back to the start of the game for you.

It controls like a dream with full joypad support included, so if Super Meat Boy floated your boat this is going to rock your cruise liner, and come on, it's bloody FREE, so what have you got to lose?

Get it here, hurry up now, chop chop!

Thanks for the recommendation, good fun.

Preferred the 8-bit colouring to the 16-bit with the monitor simulation off. But loved its look.

Looks lovely. Seems like one of those games that's good at snagging the interest of those who aren't really interested in the usual games. Very much reminds me of Brothers....

That's going straight on my wish list. It reminds me of that indie title with people (and a dog) stranded on a planet where you have to make decisions on what to do every day. It was Ok, but far ...
