I just saw this headline on guardian unlimited:

Man cuts off his own penis in busy restaurant

So you see, life could be worse.

Well yes, it could certainly be worse, and slicing off one's own John Thomas would definitely fit that category!

Nonetheless I think everyone should come and have a shout via the medium of text. It's quite cathartic

Don't get me wrong, I'm quite cheerful today! Just dealing with a muppet customer who has made a massive mistake. I'm happy because it's not my fuck-up!

We've just had a call from our IT boss saying that the email is down. We're sat here reading our email so we're a bit confused, "can you ping anything or get to the web?" we ask.
"No", is the reply.
"Then it's the network at fault.", says us.
That's the boss, who's been here *years*!

I am cry ;_;

We're moving to a new domain and the biggest idiots with the stupidest problems are the main IT Team. I'm so fudging glad i'm not part of them.

I’m decidedly “:S” today. We’ve put in an absolutely monster bid on a house that I 1000% think we can’t really afford unless we want to spend the next twenty years living as paupers, however Clare is very strongly of the opinion that this is the house we must have…

Therefore I’m secretly hoping that we won’t get our bid accepted, whilst the same time knowing that if we don’t I will have a very grumpy gf on my hands for some time. :(

You can't afford it now but you'll probably be able to in a couple of years so I'd go for it if I were you ::::) (happy spider face)

(edit - should probably add that I'm a Leo, impulse buyer and I'm shit with money...)

Doh. It is generally best to push yourself with your first mortgage, but you don't want to be living of Tesco Value Beans for the rest of your life.

Thing is we’ve now been looking for over a year, and things we saw a year ago and thought we could afford but were a bit on the pricey side are now totally out of our price range. Everything’s gone up at least ten percent if not more, and we’re frankly kicking ourselves we didn’t get something ages ago.

We’ve also seen nothing we like in ages, and we finally found this great house right where we want to live. Sadly we’ve been fucked around by lying estate agents, but we’ve decided to bite the bullet and just go for it, as we’re sick of missing out and in the meantime watching prices just go up and up.

Still, won’t be too disappointed if we don’t get it, like I say, it really will stretch us to our very limits.

It's always worth planning for the unforseen. It's not logical sure, specially when you've seen a place (or your other half has seen a place) that you/they've fallen hopelessly in love with.

Thing is, you bite the bullet, you move in, you are stretched to the limits and then something unforseen happens like she gets preggers, or you / she lose your job or any other number of weird random factors, and you're up shit creek without a paddle.

Property's worst for this sort of thing as I know from recent experience. I was in the same quandary 2 years ago and there's always that horrible "oh soddit we should've gone for it" but thinking about it, we would've been royally fucked if anything had happened that put a spanner in the works, like an unexpected pregnancy or a.n.other unpredictable happenstance.

I'll join you in that peej, the guy is an A1 prick. Probably a sock. Definitely a liar.

Kal, if it comes to it and you're skinted by the mortgage, it's not ideal but you could get a lodger in to make up teh shortfall

If we find ourselves in a ‘shit creek’ situation then we would have various options I think, depending on just how deep the creek was of course, but I struggle to think of a scenario where we would be totally and utterly paddleless. I think really it’s just going to be a case of use being a little bit on the uncomfortable side for a while.

Zizzi is a bit of a weird name for an Italian restaurant because "zizzi" actually sounds a lot like the Italian for "willy".

Nothing beats our local Italian (Cosa Nostra) for its calzone. (Which apparently means folded trouser leg).
