This thread (like most banks) promises much and delivers little.

And governments - you forgot governments. But I'm with boabg on the bank issue.

Yep - agreed on the banks. I'm in the process of moving banks because I got pissed off with my old one, but the problem is my new bank screwed up the delivery of my bank card - and apparently haven't actually noticed yet (or at least, they haven't contacted me).

I need to go into town on my lunchbreak (which takes most of my break) at some point to go and sort it out. Fucking banks.

I got accosted in the street the other day by someone from the Halifax telling me about their new Ultra Account, where you get free travel insurance, RAC membership, interest free overdraft, various other discounts totalling over £800, AND they transfer all your direct debits to the new account.

Where do I sign? Says I.
Just here, right below the section where you agree to pay £10 per month for the services.
I quickly walked off after laughing in her face.

You want me to pay you to profit by investing my money? Sod orf.

The missus finally got her money back a full MONTH after her account got reamed by a fraudster. Christmas / Yuletide period has to be the worst possible time to be reamed in this way because A) no one gives a flying fuck about sorting it out because "it's chrisssmusss innit!" and B) even the indian call centres her bank rely on closed down over the festive period.

Fuck knows what she'd have done if she'd have been on her own. I still haven't had my christmas pressies either :(

look on the bright side though peej. buying your pressies during the january sales means you'll get more for the same amount of money :)

Hmmm that's the theory but the missus plus january sales = lots for the missus, nothing for Peej :)
