I've been having an "underworld" theme week this week, but I'm running out of options and want to round off the weekend, so gimme some more:

So far this week I've watched:

Goodfellas (awesomeness)
Once Upon A Time In America (whats all the fuss?)
Bronx Tale
Godfather Trilogy (never seen before, but part 2..wow)
Casino
Scarface
Donnie Brasco

Lined up are Mean Streets (if I can find it on DVD), Reservoir Dogs (probably wont bother as seen too many times) and possibly The Untouchables (same thing applies).

Any glaring omissions I need to see? I'm guessing Carlitos Way needs to be added. Oh and yeah, I know The Sopranos, but quite frankly I cant be arsed with another TV series having watched 24 Seasons 1-6 back to back last month.

And finally, nothing black and white please. I'm uncultured.

Well to bring things bang up to date you could go for the Departed, or indeed Infernal Affairs.

BTW you should have no trouble getting Mean Streets and it should be pretty cheap.

Millers Crossing is great, Danny Boy scene is excellent.

You should also add Carlito's Way to the list.

Miller's Crossing is ace :-)
Heat (if you haven't seen it already)?

I dunno if Boondock Saints falls under the mob/mafia thing (there are mob guys in it I guess) - but it's a great film (with a bit of a weird ending but oh well), someone from EG or here recommended it and I really liked it :-)

Oh forgot about Heat. Bought it on DVD years ago but not gotten around to watching it (saw it when it first came out though).

You're not the first person to mention Boondock Saints...again, another film I'd never heard of. I'm so sheltered.

Boondock Saints is cool, can't remember anything at all about it, it was just one of those fun to watch films.

If you don't mind a dodgy script, Gangster Number 1 is great. Paul Betthany is awesome.

I'd also 2nd Things to do in Denver. Brilliant. And stop fannying about and watch The Sopranos. Simply the best series ever. Except maybe SFU or Rescue Me...

I'd never heard of it before either - randomly saw it mentioned in a thread on here or EG. Very entertaining little film :-)

How about brit gangster films? I've heard Layer Cake is good but not got round to seeing it myself. I don't think I've seen the original Get Carter either... or maybe I did years ago :-/

It's a pretty dark one, the scene in the woods is so superbly done.

Serpico (not really a mob film but still...)
Infernal Affairs 1 and 2
A Bronx Tale

Carlito's Way is a must though - Al Pacino at his best, although that applies to Godfather 2 and Serpico too.

Might be worth checking out some Takeshi Kitano stuff.

Dead or Alive (the Japanese one obviously) is pretty damn intense as well.

I'm not really into gangster films, but I caught The Long Good Friday on Film Four recently and thought it was quite good.

Beat me to it. Cracking film, with Kingsley at his best.

Sanjuro and Yojimbo are pretty much gangster films, albeit with swords mostly.
