Has anyone actually successfully downloaded a whole demo, then the 360 is in standby mode?

I've been trying to DL the Demo of 'Overlord' for about 3 days now and every time I go back to the 360 in the evening, it tricks me into thinking is downloaded in full: the machine is switched off.

When I check it however, it seems the 360 turned off less than half-way through. So I try again. When I check in the evening the machine is off but yet again, it hasn't completed the DL.

Is this my net connection or has anyone else had a problem?

I think you're brave for leaving the thing on unattended in the first place. I've not dared do that yet.

I tried it once and it didn't work. Ever since I've just left it running in the background while watching a DVD or something.

There's also the fear of the 360 setting fire to my flat while I'm asleep.

I had the same problem downloading something, ended up just leaving it on properly. Haven't tried to download anything since.

Well, to go against the current trend in this thread, I left mine for an entire afternoon, and it succesfully downloaded that Hour of Victory FPS (Shite), Area 51 (shite), NHL 07 (good, possible purchase), and Viva Pinata (haven't tried it yet).

Among some others I can't recall.

But hey, I'm not all there (upstairs, I mean), clearly, for even contemplating doing that (it was a hot sunday too) - so don't listen to me.

Oh, it switched itself off successfully, too.

I was surprised to find the house not burned to the ground on my return, mind.

I leave my 360 on all the time. I often wonder if people on my friends list think that I play way too much 360, but usually I've just fucked off to do something else.

Looks like we've found the source of all this global warming lark.

How do you actually set it so that it can be switched to standby during download ?

Done it twice, worked twice.

First time was with the DIRT demo, which I left going overnight as it was going incredibly slow.

Overlord demo took only 30 mins to come down.

Maybe it's just my connection, but when I'm playing on the 360 I don't get 'kicked' due to my connection dropping. Hmmm.

I've used it a few times too, works quite well.

However, if Live / your ISP is fucking you about (I've had both, mostly blaming my ISP) then it'll switch itself off if it encounters an error like getting disconnected from Live.

Works a charm here. Only on a couple of occasions did it take forever, but it always successfully managed to download the content and switch itself off.

Tell you what, though, I couldn't possibly leave it overnight. Not only would my bedroom get unbearably warm (it's already pretty close already), but I find that the 360 acts as some sort of dehumidifier - dries the air to "suffocate" in about an hour.

I just wouldn't get to sleep.

Downloaded whilst turned off a few times - works fine for me.

It's hard to tell the real benefit though, it's no quieter and gives the impression it's using as much power as normal.
