ZOMG Mario has a new suit!

While that particular level seems a little overly cutesy, the graphics look gorgeous, in particular that large bee at the end. That fur looked ace!

That does look great and certainly is prettier than anything else so far (including cube games).

Co-op in Mario O_O - wonder if they'll have that online too.

Ninty need this badly. If it's not actually better than Mario 64 then I think the tide of opinion could begin to turn, even in some pretty pro-Ninty circles.

I like mine - the others do what they do, the Wii does something different.

Hopefully with huge sales will come some great stuff like on DS: that was seen as "gimmicky" at the beginning too.

It's the 1st of November in Japan, are Nintendo being speedy about the rest of the world?

Got my Japanese version yesterday, very impressive so far. Extremely polished and brimming with variety and clever ideas.

It's definitely not that hard, up to the point I've reached at least. The difficulty comes mainly from figuring out the best way to progress.

It's great fun and fairly relaxing, though there are the odd taxing moments/levels.

Yeah, I suppose I'm being overly harsh to expect some old-skool platforming challenges, and the unlockable mode is apparently the equivalent of a 'hard mode' too.

How's the camera? It looks well sorted in the videos I've seen, but the cameras have been the bane of the 3D Marios.

I was kind of expecting it to be pretty hard core platforming along the lines of the backpack less levels of Sunshine which I loved. That turned out not to be the case, there are levels like that, but they're not in the majority

The camera does a great job most of the time. Very occasionally I would like to be able to spin it a little, but most of the time the auto camera is up to the job.

Ooh... it was kind of on my radar, but I didn't expect such rave reviews TBH. I was kind of expecting something like Mario Sunshine, you know, kind of alright but nowt special... but by the review scores so far it seems fucking outstanding! :-o

Guess I should read the reviews, but this, Wii Sports and Wii Music are actually making me think about buying a Wii :-)

Nintendo are even advertising it before release. I never thought I would see the day when Nintendo Europe would work out that advertising may help increase sales but they've done a good job recently with the Wii, DS and Metroid Prime 3.

PS3 seems non-existent apart from that nonsense Heavenly Sword Ad.

I'm considering buying this (and a Wii) for my son - I'm worried if it'll be too hard for him though. He loves Mario Sunshine but while it looks like a game for kids I think the difficulty is pretty high actually..

I know the wiimote is intended for kids to be easy to use, I'm just not convinced that it really is.. Personally I don't like the idea of waving the thing around either.

I can't see Ninty making it too hard, given their new casual-centric approach. Plus there's the two player mode so you could play through any hard bits with him.

I don't think it's any harder than Mario Sunshine, whilst for me at least being a hell of a lot better.

Having said that though trying to get my wife to play it is proving impossible, it makes her feel sick watching me play and as the levels I'm playing now are getting tougher she thinks the game looks too complicated when it gradually leads you into it.

From what I've read, the only time you'll need to wave the Wiimote around is when you need to do some kind of spin attack. I can't see that being used too much in the game ahead of the classic jump on the bad guys' head attack. However Trip Skyway may correct me on this.

I understand your concerns though. I'm almost at the end of Bryyo on Metroid Prime 3 and still have yet to master controlling the crosshair with the Wiimote, and I consider myself to be a pretty good gamer.

There's a few ads on tv now showing it, and by looking at it seems there's multiple uses for it.. The biggest problem is that it seems like its made for kids but for all mario games I think there's some pretty hard places and not much guidance. Not a bad thing in itself perhaps but it kinda looks easier than it is for small kids..

Some would argue that kids aged five shouldn't play but I see no harm in it..

The spin attack is really pretty integral to the game, as you use it to activate certain objects in the game. I found the spin much easier to use than jumping on enemies heads, and in general Wii remote stuff really adds to the game for me. The spin move could have been done on a button, but I reckon it feels great on the remote.
