After 5 minutes of insisting they tell me why they were sending a new SIM out to me even though I asked them to completely cancel my monthly contract I want to go Pay As You Go.

Not knowing anything about phones (I have a slight phobia of telephone conversations...) can people please explain it would be best for me to proceed.

I'll need a new phone and my average use is not more than 25 mins of calls and 40 texts a month.

Also, I've asked for a PAK code but I don't know if I can use that on Pay As You Go?

Thanks muchly :D

PAYG is what I do - I'm the same, I hate phones anyway.

Only wisdom I can pass on:

1) All mobile shops will treat you like you've got syphillis as soon as they find out you want to do the PAYG thing

2) Most networks will too - but you can pick up a PAYG sim relatively cheaply and just slot that in to most sim-free phones

3) Don't let anyone badger you into a contract AT ALL for that sort of useage. I had a numpty in the Carphone Warehouse badger me like mad to go contract even though I spend about a tenner every 6 months or so.

Get a free PAYG sim card from o2 online. For ten quid a month you either get 100 mins (I think) or 300 free text msgs. The onyl catch being you have to top up by a minimum of 10 per month. You also get that 10 in call credit which does rollover if you don't use it.

How long does it roll over for though? I seriously doubt I'd spend enough.

Plus I need a phone and don't want to spend more than 20 on it.

It rolls over forever as long as you top up every so often (minimum every 6 months I think). You don't have to top up every month it's just you don't get the free texts and calls unless you do, but if you don't need them then it's no big deal.
