There's quite a decent number of people here and between us I think we should be able to brainstorm (or Mind Shower or whatever the PC version is) up some unique ideas that could help AATG become an even better site, so if you've got any, dump them here.

I know I'd appreciate a "What's it worth" rating for games. The way I see it is that some games are worth paying full price and getting on release day, others may only be worth 25. Just an idea that might help give AATG an original angle.

I'm sure there are many multiple console owners, and Peej's recent forum post listing the differences between the 360 and PS3 versions of The Darkness was very useful. More of this sort of thing please! Either tagged on at the end of articles, or maybe even in a completely new section.

Things I plan to include in the redesign.

* eBay swapsies/seller style feedback score so everytime you do a transaction with someone off the forum you can log it and generate a feedback score so as the community grows we call see who's trustworthy and reliable or not

* Posting frequency - i.e. "Peej makes on average 120 posts per day" The only problem with this is that I didn't include a 'date registered on' field in the users database so this will have to be calculated from when people made their very first posts.

* I'd also like to build a swapsies system into the site where you can search for a game and see who's offering it up for swaps and who wants it - the only problem with this is that I need the games database populating with games, developers, publishers, cover art, release dates etc etc.

It all takes fucking time.

Oh and before anyone else says it, the next version of the site is optimised for 1024 x 768 resolutions and is centred.

I once suggested a page that collated all the gamertags registered on the site so we didn't have to go into everyone's profiles individually to see whether they were on Live or PSN or whatever.

Kerching, there's another great idea.

If this thread gains momentum, I'll sticky it.

Nice ideas HA. I think all of those ideas will boost site traffic without turning you into a corporate cock-sucking whore. Nice action. :)

Oh, just a personal request here - more screenshots in reviews pls (breaks up the blocks of text).

I was thinking a top 5 games in the profile might be nice, especially if it fed into a dynamic AATG top 5 games list.

I guess this would be pretty hard though, as people would all put game titles in differently, the alternative making a drop down with all the games ever would be horrendous.

Yeah that's the main barrier preventing me from having already built a swapsies system. I mean it's already pretty much coded I just never finished it because I need to populate the games DB.

Building that DB must be a pretty scary task. Is there somewhere you could nick a list from, like gamerankings or something.

On a different note I know flash is generally frowned on around here, but if you think of anything you'd like building in it, let me know I'd be happy to help out.

I wouldn't mind seeing a revival of the "hotlinks wiki" thing we had a play with when setting the site up.

The thing's probably still there, though it didn't really get used for much.

More NSFW

More women

The two may be mutually exclusive though.

I know you'll hate this but I'd like avatars.. They can be restrained in size for both pixels and file size and don't have to be big. Admins/moderators can delete any inappropriate avatars.

Look at the flags for example, everybody wanted one when the option was made available.

The reason I like avatars are two-fold.. maybe even three..

1. Its easy to recognise a given poster by his avatar (unless they switch often)

2. They're usually funny in one way or another

3. I sometimes discover new stuff by seeing avatars, and wondering about their origin..

Anyway, just my 2 cents..

How about post rate over the last 30 days instead/as well?

Graphs of post rate over time? (this one may be excessively anal)

number 1 suggestion from me is to fix your rss feed, it's been borked for as long as i can remember.

sort it out and i'll add aatg to the list of feeds on http://www.gameboar.com

for the last couple of weeks i've also been tweaking gameboar with new features. i've nothing to show publically yet but i'm hopeful of having something up in august. i've had ideas that i've wanted to implement since december and it's only recently i've found some time to work on them.

i doff my cap to the aatg team for pumping out new content constantly. i just wouldn't have the time to put in the effort required to generate my own content.

gameboar is different to aatg because it's not got a forum community or public personalities, it's basically just a huge amount of info. i don't have the time to mod a forum, so i won't be going down that route.

for the update i've tried to concentrate on making the information people are interested in more accessible. the 'wall of info' style homepage will stay but there will also be other methods and features to get the content you want easily and quickly.

there's also an idea that i'm keeping close to my chest as i don't think it's been done yet which is ideally suited to the gameboar format. but i'm not sure if i'll be able to get it in for the new update. we'll see...

The news feed RSS works fine for me (from the main page). The forum one doesn't seem to but that would be great to use, either via a reader or seeing it on GB - that might generate a good amount of traffic if a feed is changing more rapidly.

Put a new thread button inside the threads themselves. It's annoying having to go back to the main page to do it. :)

Server feels slow. Anyways, looking at the 5 most recently registered users, this one caught my eye, especially the aliases...

Maven - I agree about the forum front page sometimes loading slower than seems normal. I don't know if it's my shitty host or whether I need to optimise my SQL queries, but if it is the latter will be getting that sorted at some point.

That user is one of the spammers that have been registering of late, though they seem to have cooled off now I disabled html from the alias field.

Twiiter have just announced a 'Follow' button which allows people to follow your Twitter feed without leaving your site.

Code for the button is here.

Also on the Twitter site is the code for creating a 'Tweet' button for each article plus a selection of widgets for webpages and Facebook.

Looks good that sil. I'll see if I can easily incorporate that into the site. Only issue I have with it is how it all too well highlights that we could only get @allaboutthegame as @allaboutthegames was too many characters. :(
