At £9.99 a month without any enforced contracts I'm very tempted. As much as I'd love Sky Sports, the cost really doesn't justify it for me but I'm definitely considering at least trialing Setanta for a couple of months.

Yeah, I'm almost certain to pick it up as I will watch a lot of NASN and the racing channels as well as the football.

edit: if you only want it for a month or so, don't forget that you have to give 30 days notice before you cancel, so you basically need to ring up the same day you get it installed if you only want it for a certain month.

I was for the Liverpool channel, but my Thomson DVR doesnt have a slot and I'd imagine when I get a new HDTV, they wont have the slot either.

According to the website you can still receive the channel if you have a freeview box without a card slot, or like me, a TV with integrated freeview. Having said that, I'm considering getting the Sky package with basic TV and unlimited Sky Broadband so could get the channel that way.

I've been eyeing it up for a couple of years now for the NASN. If we'd still been in the Prem, I'd definitely go for it, but as we woz robbed I think £10 per month is just outside my impulse buy range.

Lots of good stuff on NASN, Sticky. Can't really remember why I stopped getting it (although it was probably because it moved to Setanta when Setanta was still £20 a month for NASN + nothing else I was interested in at the time).

I'm tempted by that dirty looking bird in the advert. Do you reckon Des Lynam got any... perks?

I don't know, but I did actually laugh when the guy calls him Dickie at the end.

The TV ad states you need a card slot. The alternative appears to be buying their own Freeview box, I don't see how a non-card slot box could receive it as it will be encrypted like TopupTV is at the moment.

The faqs on the site also state that you need a card slot too.

Don't listen to Hairy. He's talking out of his (hairy)arse.

Even if I was moderately interested in sport, the constant ads for this would have switched me off LONG ago.

Well it'd be a bit silly not advertising it just before the main reason most people will subscribe to starts on Saturday.

All the "Sultana" channels are included in Virgin's XL TV package which isn't bad really.

Naw I understand that - but EVERY FRICKIN' AD BREAK!

Even footie fans must be able to "get it" after one or two ads... :)

From what I understand, those of you with Virgin cable will be getting Setanta free to compensate for lack of Sky One, or something like that.

I've had it for about a year. Good few channels and their coverage is pretty decent.

I got a letter from Virgin this morning saying I would be getting it free. Which is nice!

I quite like how BT Vision lets you pay per view whatever games you want. Personally that’s the way forward for me, I’d much rather do that than pay £10 a month.

Yeah, they can stick it imo. Only interested in the football, and refuse to pay a tenner a month just for that, on top of my Sky package. I'll go to the pub or Sopcast it imo

Looks like BT are charging £2 a game....pretty good imo, as the only Live games are those on Setanta. The rest are delayed.

You get the Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and Portuguese Liga as well. It's not just the EPL/SPL.

That is pretty good, actually. A great alternative if you aren't going to use any of the other channels in the package.

I rang them to see what the deal was, got an engaged tone twice and when I got through and selected freeview it said they were too busy and to call back later, bad start me thinks.

Nah, Saskia was the horrible one from 2 or 3 years ago. The one in the ad is the one from this series who pretended to be Australian.
