If the live version of 'Dream Brother' by Jeff Buckley isn't one of the greatest music recordings of all time then I'm a Nintendo fan.

That's all I wanted to say.

Jeff is great, so's his dad Tim but he's a bit more 70's acoustic. Sweet Surrender is a great track.
Miss them both.

Must admit I was never really a fan, there's very little of his stuff that I actually like, but this one live recording of Dream Brother has been one of my favourite pieces of music ever since I heard it on a b-side of one of his singles back around the time Grace came out.

I remember being hugely disappointed when I heard the studio version of the song on the album, it's just nowhere near as good, and the rest of the album wasn't really my cup of tea.

Very, very talented guy. And yeah, an enormous loss to the music industry. Gotta say I disagree on the concept of ever being disappointed by Grace but it depends when you come to it, I guess.

Yeah he was incredibly gifted, but I do have to admit that based on what I'd heard up until then I was a bit disappointed when Grace was released, it's just not my cup of tea.

Just realised today the same recording of Dream Brother I'm referring to later appeared on the 'Mystery White Boy' album, if you want to give it a listen. It's absolutely sublime.

I agree totally, nekotcha.

I'm more of a classical guy, but Grace would certainly rank as one of my Desert Island Discs (assuming I could class the whole album as one choice).

There's probably 4 or 5 songs on that album I love but it wouldn't be one of my top 5 albums of all time.

His "Sketches" album has a few really good songs too (Yard of Blonde Girls is a particular favourite) but he did seem to have a very interesting and exciting music career ahead until it got cut short.

There are a few lesser known artists that have clearly been influenced by him and some of them are fantastic, it's just a shame we never got to hear what he could be doing now.
