Indiana Jones & The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull.

I don't know about this film - in theory I should have high hopes for it, but the title could easily refer to the brittleness of Harrison Ford's bones.

Anyway, they usually base the artefact on something from proper legend, and I'm old enough to remember the crystal skull off the beginning of the Arthur C Clarke program from the 80s. Looks like it might be a Mayan theme then...

I think it was confirmed to be a Mayan theme.

Maybe Mel Gibson will be a stand-in for the Nazis.

If Mel Gibson was involved, there'd only be one option for stand-ins for the Nazis...

That's a very long title.

I predict this will be okay but fans of the original(s) will find it painfully average/bad as long as Lucas has something to do with it.

I'm seriously not looking forward to the whiners who will whine solely because of Lucas' involvement.

Even if it is great any flaw will be laid at his door.

The main flaws caused by Lucas will be if he gets anywhere near the script or direction. If he stays away from them then I'm happy - he's good at executive producer and story outlines (as he did originally).

I'm just setting my expectations very low so I won't be disappointed by his output again. I remember the younglings.

Or are you saying you think he's made some good stuff recently?

Ditto.

Three long hours.
Probably.

Well I really liked ROTS and am not filled with hate towards the other two. Judging by how well it went down with its target audience I feel in 20 years time there will be a generation who comes somewhat close to loving those films as much as our generation adores the OT.

Anyhoo, Lucas created the character of Indy so a sequel without him would be like one with Ford. Give the man a chance and remember he (shouldn't) feel the need to twist a story to showcase CGI.

It didn't help that I'd been drinking before going to see ROTS (I get grumpy) and hated the other two after a few viewings but the fault of those were in areas that Spielberg will, most likely, take the lead in on this so it does have some chance.

I'll reserve judgement until I see trailers at least. I don't know how they plan to do the stunts, assuming Harrison Ford isn't as capable of them as he was.
