Been thinking about having a poke around Mac OS X and supposedly it's possible.

But last time I had a go it came up with an error when trying to boot.

The guide I used was from here.

Just wondering if anyone's done this kind of thing and succeeded.

I've done it with OSX and the results were OK but it was vaguely useable. Expect worse-than-vista performance though unless you've got a rig that can punch satellites out of orbit using its CD tray.

Good enough I suspect with C2D @ 3GHz and 2Gb of memory at 1066MHz.

But suspecting the nVidia graphics card will kill me.

Planning to look at it next month after I get another hard drive..... juggling my last 20Gb of just under 2 Tb.

Hoping those 750s will be affordable.

I just really want to play around and maybe use some Fink stuff.

Most Universal-binary stuff seems to work OK (but is achingly slow). Any mac-specific stuff that I've tried on our OSX test PC at work either doesn't run or crashes frequently.

Interesting exercise though, we did it before we got macs here and there really is no competition between Mac and PC running OSX, even our shittiest little Macbooks piss it compared to a PC.

No idea whether it actually works (basically I'm just reposting what Engadget posted a couple of days ago) but apparently it is possible to install Leopard on an Intel PC.

The downside is that you need to be able to already run OS X on the machine. Not very useful in your situation then...
