Just thought I'd let you know how our weekend went, not only because it was a great day, but because now I'm back at work I can't get going (aside from the boring meetings).

So yeah, we got hitched (after 9 years of "going out" and more than enough years of being engaged).

The ceremony was at 4.15 on Saturday with a big Family/friends party straight after. None of the formal sit down dinner for us. It took place in a small room in Dartford at the Manor Gate House; a building that was given to Anne of Cleeves by Henry, many moons ago..... as part of their divorce settlement.

Genius.

I was done up like a right wotsit, in full morning suit and a dark red waistcoat, trying my hardest not to be a jibbering sweaty wreck when Cat arrived.

And boy did she arrive!!

I had to use everything in my arsenal to stop my eyes from leaking as I saw her enter the room wearing a dress that she had designed from scratch with her friends from the theatre at college, with her extremely proud father on her arm.

My jaw literally hit the floor.

A black wedding dress with deep red trim above the corset, her hair done up and a white bouquet with black gems in. She looked freaking amazing!!!

She'd managed to keep the dress a secret from EVERYONE she knew other than the people making it (naturally). Not even her mother or the bridesmaid knew what she was going to look like.

The party afterwards was corking. My mate from work provided the music in the form of a rock covers band. Tunes such as Mrs Robinson, Town Called Malice, Park Life, American Idiot, Hush, Highway to Hell, Sweet home Alabama, Teenage Kicks, I'm a believer...
2 requests from us. REM's One I love (aawww) and our first dance, Wonderwall. (shutup).

Hated doing the first dance by the way. No fucker joined us either. Basts!!

After we cleared it though, the dancefloor was jam packed all night, the buffet was scoffed and the beer flowed.

Everything was perfect.

There are some photo's on my (newly created) facebook account if you want to see me dressed up like a right'un. But those interested in perving should definitely check out Cat's dress, it was AMAZING!!!

Thanks to all those that sent their wishes, and sorry for boring you all now :)

oh and not on honeymoon yet, because it was about 400quid cheaper to go 2 weeks after.

Still, gives us something else to look forward to. Dominican Republic for 2 weeks all inclusive... Come to papa!

Congrats Binks! The dress is gorgeous (As is Cat!) but I honestly have to say... Black!? :)

And 2 weeks in the Dom Rep too! Lucky man, that's a good trip. Make sure you go on the monster truck safari! I thought that was ace.

Congrats to both of you! The day sounds fab, I've seen the pic and Cat looks awesome (as do you), it sounds like you all had a great time!

Hope the honeymoon is equally brilliant.

Re unusual wedding dresses, I was at a wedding on Saturday where the bride wore a baby pink dress which came to just below her knee and with a full skirt that twirled like something out of Grease when she spun round. And she produced a Venetian mask in the evening and gave out halloween masks for everyone to play with. She looked like a little fairy - it was fabulous. Unusual wedding dresses ftw.

I might make one out of old jeans when it comes to my turn ;-)

Thanks again everyone for their kind words. Glad you liked her dress, it blew me away!

Congrats.

Of course nobody joined you when you did the first dance. It's where everyone politely sits and watch you dance. No joining in allowed AFAIK.
You probably should've told people to please join in halfway if you wanted them to. :-)

Strangely I felt more protective of my missus after we got married. Don't know why...

Something to stop me smiling...

So much for a happy honeymoon :(

More than 60 people have died in floods and mudslides sparked by tropical storm Noel in the Dominican Republic and Haiti, officials say.

I really did expect to feel differently, but I don't. Whether that's because we have a great relationship anyway, and maybe some couples need the marriage thing as a reinforcement of their commitment or not, I don't know.

Keep grinning Binks. :)

Edit: Not that I was implying yours is like that. Just re-read it, and realised how it sounds. Doh.

Nice one! Beautiful dress too, though I have to admit the traditionalist in me raised an eyebrow when hearing about a black dress at first.

Yeah, I know quite a few people who leave off going on honeymoon for a while. I imagine you're pretty drained after the day.

No worries Dougs - I can't really explain it myself either, as we'd been living together for 3 or 4 years when we got married.
