Could any of you weirdos that actually enjoy gaming on a PC give me a couple of tips on this? I was thinking of getting it for the missus for Xmas. She loves Oblivion, Warcraft, etc. Wondered if this is in a similar vein - and how good a rig you need to get it running? For comparison, we were barely able to get Stalker running (without it looking like an Xbox1 game). |

Personally I'm finding it not as good as Oblivion. It's good, but a trifle annoying in places; lots of backtracking and very little fast travel options, occasional quest non-sequiters, very limited inventory given the potion ingredients so you have to keep dumping the ingredients at pubs, etc. It's also got some sort of memory leak in the menus, meaning that the more you open menus, the slower it gets over time. This fucks me right off. My rig's medium hefty, Radeon X1950 pro, 2gbRAM, P4 3.20GHz and it's having some framerate problems with some of the areas. The memory leak is the most irritating thing, though - if they ever patch-fix that it'll be a much smoother ride. Something else to consider is how amused your missus is likely to be by the more blokey aspects of the game, like the general macho macho main character stuff and the 'bed a wench collect a titty card' side. It's not too outrageous, but some people get irked by that sort of thing a lot more than others. On the whole, if your rig is slower than mine, don't bother. If it can handle it, keep an eye on the patch situation to see if they sort out that bloody memory leak. If they do, it'll probably go down well enough if she doesn't mind the 'it's a mans world' vibes. |

Cheers, MD. Looks like a no-no, to be honest. |

I couldn't find an recent thread, but today is released the Enhanced Edition of The Witcher. You bought The Witcher last year and now you’re afraid that you won’t have the opportunity to enjoy all the features of the Enhanced Edition? WRONG! Wipe away your tears, little one, because we’ve got a nice treat for you. If you bought the original version of The Witcher and registered it at thewitcher.com, you’ll be able to download all of the great content from the Enhanced Edition for free starting September 19! That’s right – FREE! No strings attached, just good old-fashioned FREE. Log in and download. You may be wondering – “What do they mean by ‘all’ of the content”? This is what we mean: - Patch 1.4 (which turns the standard edition into The Witcher: Enhanced Edition)- D’jinni Adventure Editor v1.4- Two new adventures (“The Price of Neutrality” and “Side Effects”)- Making-of videos- ‘Inspired by The Witcher’ music CD- Official soundtrack of the game- Game manual- Official game guide- Map of The Witcher’s World You may notice that “all” in this case doesn’t include the short story that is found in the retail version… unfortunately getting that released online would be some sort of massive undertaking involving numerous book publishers around the world. So it’s almost everything. Pretty impressive, isn’t it? So, let me suggest you that visiting www.thewitcher.com should be – no, more than that - it must be the very first thing you do on the 19th of September! Know-how to installation of Enhanced Edition 1. Download the Patch file (it’s something about 1GB) 2. Download the language file/files (more or less 500 MB) 3. Gather them In one folder 4. Start the installation of the Patch. 5. Enjoy The Enhanced Edition 6. (Optional) Download bonus content & soundtrack Get to it! |

It's actually out?! I'd been hanging on for the enhanced edition, and then it took so long I completely forgot about it. Nice one Dragul, I'll be popping down to the shops later today. |

Finally, the patch was supposed to be released two weeks ago last time I checked. I already own the enhanced edition (short story, DVD, soundtrack and map) since it was released in Poland long ago but I'm really interested in the bug fixes and optimizations CD Projekt supposedly included in this version. |

I was going to buy this on Steam, but now they've removed it from the Non US sites i think. *sigh* |
|||
| |||
Have they fixed the over-the-shoulder view, as in remove it completely. |

Gremmi said in here Okay, word of warning for those that are patching - you have to have registered your copy of the game -and- (here comes the retarded bit) be on the exact same computer you used to register. That's right - the enhanced edition patch can only be installed on one PC, and that's the one you registered the game under. Presumably you're also stuck if you've upgraded your OS or similar. Good job I didn't register this initially on my old PC. |

I quite like it so far, I never played the original so I got the proper disk version of the enhanced edition. The dialogue may be improved but it still is a bit wooden and lip-syncing is dreadful. The combat isn't too bad; I like the mix of turn based and real time instead of going for just one of them. Hopefully it'll get even better as the game goes on and the bloke gets more decent skills. So far the only thing I'm disappointed by is one of the early missions of searching for some crap to make something - it's what I hate about every MMO I've played and I hope that there aren't too many like it. |

Sunday I'll make an small article about contents on each pack, to people who have the old version to know what to download. So far I've only have 2 packages left. |

Not a single Thread on the Witcher 2... God we are getting sloppy... :P I think it's better to use this one instead of creating a new one that will only get 3 or 4 posts... So... Official site Videos Concept Art and Ingame images |

Last time I installed it (before a HDD death) was a massive pain in the cunt. Sent me to some Polski site to download the patches. |

What a chap! I'll install it tonight then. Got to play something until the F:NV patch comes out. |

There's no emo-quitting this place Boabg. :P |

I got the Steam version for about £2 just to avoid the patching of this. I'm sure it'll be in another sale soon. |

Does anybody know if The Witcher 2 runs on a E6300 (1.86) with a 9600GT? |

Playing Witcher 3 and my god it's a headache actually navigating. I dunno if it was meant for mouse and keyboard primarily but with sticks he never goes or faces what I want him to, turns in a huge arc, and the camera is hell |
