Not just confined to games.

For me the £25 lightsabre thing is close to it I think. Possibly the Orange Box even though I have barely touched it.

Not so much purchase as bet - I backed Curlin at 8/1 for the Breeders' Cup Classic (which he won) after I picked up on an error in one of the big three's systems that still had him at that price despite him really only being 5/1.

As for purchase, I might think of one later.

Hummmm... games wise I'd probably go for:

Endless Ocean, which is a... ummm... sea of lovelyness wrapped in a crumpled up score I found in my jeans.

Medieval 2: Kingdoms. 4 good, small scale campaigns (which I'm quite fond of, moreso that the larger ones) that seem to be trying diffrent things with the formula.

Metaboli. Considering that my PC is on it's last legs, having access to older stuff like Serious Sam, Commandos and Beyond Good and Evil was pretty handy.

Being unemployed for the first bit of the year and saving up for an MA for the rest kinda killed a lot of my rampent consumerism unfortunately. The only non-game thing would be a season ticket for my local non-league side, which guarantees me something cheap to do every other weekend or so.

Not really a bargain, but my Logitech SqueezeBox is just brilliant. Unfortunately, FLACing all my CDs is taking forever... ;)

Games-wise, getting the BioShock tin box edition by mistake, having ordered (and paid for) the standard version was nice. GOTY in my opinion.

My iRiver Clix 2 mp3 player, easily the best gadget I've ever owned. Brilliant for radio and ebook reading as well as the usual music tasks.

Rather happy with my EOS 400D too.

Either Sky+, or my Pentax K100D and telephoto lens, which was invaluable for my honeymoon. Neither particularlay bargainous, but wouldn't be without either now.

Gameswise - only bought 3 this year!

Probably two 320gig hard drives, which along with FREENAS, gave me over half a terabyte of home storage.

Couldn't do without a home server now :)

Ah, I saw some of the Black Friday deals that Gamestop and places are going to have on. Wish I was in the US right now. :(

Picking up a Mamas and Papas Babycruzer carrier for 99p (supposed to be £40).

Wangling a Wiggle order so £100 worth of gear cost £52 and netted me a £5.20 voucher :-)

picking up xmen 3 on bluray for £5.95 was very satisfying. it had blatently been labelled with the dvd price instead of the bluray one. result :) and i just acquired an axon ax100mk2 guitar to midi converter plus 13 pin pickup for £350 which is pretty damn good. both of them were second hand mind.

and whilst i've not bought it _yet_, apple adding a shite load of additional apps and content to logic pro 8 whilst simultaneously halving the price and ditching the dongle strikes me as the best value thing released all year. expensive, but bargaintastic.

I got my Zelda DS, but the lines were f'ing crazy. The first Best Buy we went to still had the line of overnight campers filing in the door at 5:20am, twenty minutes after the store opened. So we went to another Best Buy where there weren't so many people.

Later on we tried going to Circuit City to get Mario Galaxy for US $35 even though we don't have a Wii yet. But the line there was the worst I saw anywhere. It wound thru the whole store and since I didn't see Mario Galaxy anywhere obvious, we just left.

Hehe, maybe I'm okay with not being over there, then. ^_^

I might hire myself some homeless Chinese people to stand in the lines for me next year.

£25 lightsaber Furbs ? Do tell...

For me, it's best purchase, and that's definitely the 360.

Getting Halo 3 for a net of ~20 euros (Game had a "trade two old games in, get Halo 3 and a tenner"-thing, so I bought two used games of theirs for 15 euros each and traded them in towards it. :) was pretty good. Then they did the same thing with AC, so I did too, which is nice.

I think my best bargain of (this) year so far has probably been a 16gig SDHC card for under 50 quid. Sits nicely in my Archos 405 with about 20 films on it :)

I'm pretty happy with my 360 though until I find a bargain hd tv it won't sparkle that much.

Orange box for PC I think has to be one of the best bargains, since I've sunk around 60 hours into TF2 alone already, not to mention the gem that is Portal.

Sony Ericsson k850i

I'd given up on SE phones years ago because of their shitty gritty bitty attracting joysticks, but this was not only free, but actually dropped the price of my contract by a fiver and has a bloody fantastic 5 mega pixel camera, and video editing software built in. I could use the thing to make a podcast without ever needing to touch a computer.

The strange squared hoop it has instead of a joystick is a bit fiddly to get used to, but at least it shouldn't become incapacitated by pocket-smeg incursion.

Best gaming bargain was tracking down a copy of Dark Cloud for £8.49, I've been after that for ages.
