As it says on the front page (you know that mythical place where dragons be) - Kotaku seem to think that Sega are filing hardware patents again.

WHY!?

Have they not learned a lesson from the DC? Given Sega's current IP and with only Chromehounds being any good by 'em in recent history, what on earth could they possibly gain from throwing their hat into the ring, hardware wise?

Unless...

Unless of course they're going to do a hyper-powered Wii rip off?

They've done a fair few aimed-at-kids cheapo contraptions, perhaps they're thinking of that?

sounds a bit more involved than that, certainly with the list of stuff on the patents.

I know what you're thinking though, Pico rather than DC which isn't beyond the realm of possibility, certainly that way they'd cover their core audience for some of the fucking abhorrences they've been turning out recently.

I'd buy two. Sega are like fairies, if we all believe in them then they'll feed off that positive energy and so become great again.

Sega were developing a tilt controller for the DC waaaaaaaaaaay before Ninty even considered it. Tech wasn't quite up to it though, so it never got released.

Well really the Wiimote is just a Sega Bass Fishing controller with a Virtua Cop light gun strapped onto it anyway.

Bit of both (Japanese hands) but the tech wasn't quite there. You can see some striking similarities to the wiimote though can't you :)

Just a bit!

Well done Bill, that photo is probably the most enjoyment my inner Sega-fanboy has had since NiGHTs 2 was announced.

Real shame that never got patented / Sega never sued Nintendo.

The so called "next generation" could've been a whole different ballgame.
