Exactly what it says on the tin.

Within reason (no Playboy bunny waxing or anything like that) what would be your dream job?

I was asked this earlier and really couldn't think. I'm in the process of trying to find a new job, and the more I think the more I don't actually know what I want to do with my life.

When pushed, I thought back to college and my dream job then would to be a director. I'd really like to get into film and that would be right up my alley.

You?

My dream job would be to get paid to run this place 'properly' and get paid to write instead of having to find the time and motivation in an evening after work.

Yeah, director for me as well really. It's something I've tried my hand at and very much liked. Getting there is obviously a bit of a toughie so I'm hoping to fall back onto animation, though that kinda depends on how my interview for a Masters course goes next month. But making a short film isn't too tough really, the equipment isn't a million miles away if your focus is on content rather than making it look like a Hollywood film.

Of course there's also being a Lego builder/designer type person too. :)

Something where I got to travel and spend time meeting new people.

No deadlines or mind numbing travel please.

Hmmm tough question.

Something enriching, rewarding. TBH I've already done my dream job once (skincare / makeover specialist) so that, but paid better.

Rock star, best selling author, movie critic.

Actually been a movie critic for a while, money for old rope that. But it was just part of a job that had lots of crap elements.

As for novellist - got a couple of books on the go that seem far from finished. By my fiancee is determined that somehow we fit time in our lives for me to finish them over the next few years.

Actually quite like to get paid to play videogames. :)

I've always wanted to be an author. One day I shall write a book just for fun. If we're talking fantasy then F1 driver without question.

I'd also like to fuck hot women for a living too.

Making games. Not necessarily video games. I like setting up a basic system and then tweaking and adding to it so that it's a balanced, interesting and strategic experience. Of course, the best games don't require special pieces so there ain't much money in that.

me and a mate did once half think about getting a small porn studio going. there's no money to be made from just being male talent, for obvious reasons, but when you're getting the dvd sales and everything it is rather profitable, and you get to be in charge so can pick and choose which girls you want to enjoy :)

drifting a little more out of reason i'd love to be a guitarist in a big rock band, but i'm not as good as i wanna be and most people never make it big.

more realistically and far less dirtily, I'd like to be involved in music production or be a luthier making fancy electric guitars out of nice exotic woods.

For some reason I would really like to be a diplomat or anything in that area, eventhough I hardly know what my job as a diplomat would be.

Being a photographer for National Geographic or a a similar magazine would be quiet nice, too.

Pro sportsman would be one, for sure, but if we're talking more realistic I'd like to be a big time translator or, somewhere in between on the realism scale, racing manager for Godolphin.

Not wanting to sound smug, but I kind of already have it.

I always wanted to be an Art Director, and have always loved photography. This year I'll still be a Art Director, but I'll also be getting paid to travel to and photograph 23 cities.

When I was on the verge of being kicked off my B-Tec, I couldn't have dreamt that in a million years. :)

Plus the fact I only work 3 days a week.

None. I hate working. It interferes with all the things I like doing. I'd like to give up work completely and do more travelling, finish this degree and do another one, actually play some video games and lots of other stuff.

If I HAD to work, then I really don't know, there's a few things I fancy having a go at. Language teacher, something involving lots of foreign travel (can't imagine what though - translation or something?), personal trainer, handbag designer...

But I really would much rather not HAVE to do any of it.

To look after & care for family who need it, and not be made to feel like a scrounging bastard whenever the government wants an easy target.

Oh, and to be a porn star; I've already got the 'tache! :{D>

It's a completely rose-tinted and idealistic dream but I'd really like to run my own really cool game shop. I'd have arcade cabs and sections from all eras of gaming.

This has been more fueled by the unbelievable incompetence of the staff at one of the main game shops in Vancouver. It's EB Games, and it's the worst run, worst merchandised, badly staffed game shop I've ever been in to.

my dream is being a pilot. Im joining the cadets hopefully and i can get a trial with a buddy of my sisters in easy jet when im 17 for a month so i think i could do it. But getting money for the lessons...

Thats what the RAF is for... free training and you get paid 30k a year at least as an experienced pilot. Truly awesome!

Hey deem, I've got a tip for you

/pulls finger Vs from pocket

;)

Just kidding, I am jealous though. There's a girl here who works as a photographer's assistant at weekends, I was thinking I might make some enquiries about that around here somewhere to get some experience. I wish I was a bit less mortgaged up so I could take some risks and try taking pictures for a living.

Friend of mine's a pilot for BA. Maths, cannot stress this enough - do maths until your eyes bleed.

Some of his training sounds superb though. Being stranded on a life raft in the middle of a huge paddling pool with all the stewardesses. Yep, I could cope with that.

True fact: More pilots die of sexual exhaustion / STDs than in road accidents.

I got offered a job as a lead tester at Realtime Worlds in Dundee. After much agonising I turned it down. Reason:

I got engaged instead :)

I'm still working in software of course, it's just that it's more boring software really as opposed to games.

I already write for a living but I’d like to do it in less commercial way, possibly journalism although I might just be kidding myself that in practise it’s any less commercial than what I already do.

I recently met the official Spurs copywriter, which probably would have been my dream job, and he made it sound horrendous. Some sort of football journalism would be great though, although absolute dream job would probably be novelist
