:o

Silky smooth 60fps, looks nice (Revenge but with a spit & polish , basically), had some great fun with it in the few spare minutes I had.

...

/Looks for cheapest pre-order

I've got Ali at home queueing up both versions so hopefully this'll be waiting for me by the time I get in.

So what's all this about a lack of traffic? Now that doesn't sound much like Burnout to me...?

One thing going for it is that it's smaller than the very short Frontlines demo.

Does it have traffic checking? I quite liked the way hitting traffic meant insta-accident in Burnout 3 (?) think it was 3.

How is that handled in Paradise?

A lack of traffic is very worrying.

No one's even mentioned that yet, I think they're finding it hard to find other cars to actually "check" :)

Er nope. Not according to my wonderful remote controlled other half. Bet it's on the yank store though...

Someone call the devs, they forgot to include the cars.

Hope traffic density is somewhat adjustable.

Another question I have is how persistent the game world is. I suppose it reloads fresh with every new load (ie. destroyed scenery is back)

edit: the smiley I wanted to do isn't being accepted. Ah well.

I'm not sure about which version to pick up. Most likely 36o, as I've actually got a non-empty friends list there. :)

Just had a quick blast on the 360 demo as I'm off out this evening and haven't got too much time I will state this :

It's fantabulous.

Not only does it look great and run at a blistering speed it's just damn good fun.

The way online works has to be stolen and used in other titles as well, sending invites and joining games looks like it's going to be a piece of piss and it doesn't jar you out of the game like everything else does.

Can't wait for this one to come out and I'll be really interested if the PS3 one is markedly better because I'd be astonished. It could also be a potential tipping point...

Been busy most of today so couldn't comment further. But it is Rather Nice, innit?

This, Assassin's Creed & Crackdown have converted me to sandbox stuff.

Small tip, if you don't like the DJ and you've got all the info you want from him, switch off tips in the options menu and he'll shut up unless it's the start/end of an event.

Done a burning route, a race and a stunt run, any other events in there? I'm enjoying just driving around in the city though, there's absolutely tons of short cuts and cut throughs to learn.

It felt a bit pointless till I switched to online roaming, then there were quite a few friendly, chatty folk laughing and crashing into each other and me, and complimenting each other on stunts, accidental or otherwise. I think it could get boring quick, unless it's as varied as TDU once the full game is open. Getting the updates on things you've done, or people beating your record kept me playing for quite a long time.

I think I'll wait for the opinions of people who've bought and played the full game, rather than buying this on day one.

Not convinced it needs the free roaming yet, guess I need to play it some more. I quite liked the track based nature of the previous games particularly number 2, where you learnt the corners then strung multiple lap long combos together.

I'll give the multiplayer a crack as well, as my brother will no doubt be after this.

The PS3 version seems to look a bit nicer, with the 360 one looking a little flat in comparison. It looks a little like the demos are at different times of the day.

If I can use my 360 cam with the PS3 version I reckon I'll get that one, if I decide to pick this up.

The PS3 version is smoother (in races and online), looks slightly "richer" texture wise (particularly noticeable when you smash into something and observe the deformation models).

So there y'go, Derblington was right. Eesh.

As to the game, I'm really not sure. I knew that the missus would be meh about it as soon as they ditched the crash junctions (such a shame, I'm sure they could've worked them into the city somewhere without knackering the flow of the game).

Online seems a bit pointless as all people want to do is smash into you to see your camera reaction (which is why I had my LIVE camera pointing at a photo of a pair of tits, give 'em something to look at at least).

It's not Burnout though. It's missing some of the freneticism because you spend so much time checking your navigation rather than looking at the road ahead or the cars.

It's so skeletal too. There's not nearly enough traffic, and the routes through the city itself seem a bit weird, in that there are too many instances where you need to slam the handbrake on to catch a corner at speed.

I dunno though, these are just demos I guess but when it comes to it, I think more is going to be said about the PS3 "lead" version pissing a lot of 360 owners off who feel that as the bigger market, they should've had a game tailored to their system rather than something taken across from the darth-grille.

Hated it. :(

Like many others, Point Of Impact is my favourite Burnout; from my brief time with the demo, this looks to be too chaotic, and not 'race' orientated enough for my liking.

not convinced about this yet....
aaand i dont know which version to get, more than likely the 360 version i think due to the amount of friends and the mic and camera stuff.

it looks great, but i preferred choosing what i wanted to do from a menu which was nice and immediate, not trawl around an empty city looking for the specific type of race i want....

Yeah, I'm not sure about this one yet either. Seemed really sparse. Free-roaming is good and all for games like Crackdown, but an instant gratification boost explosion game like Burnout? I'm not convinced ...

Plus, maybe it was just because they gave you a slow shitty car for the demo, but it just didn't actually feel like a very fast game. While it's good they included some online gubbins in the demo, I think they *REALLY* dropped the ball by giving you a rubbish slow car and not having any explosions... Burnout to me is ALL ABOUT driving fast and blowing things up!

It's looking like a miss (or borrow it off a mate) for me so far. :-(

Not a good demo in my opinion. Has made me go from an almost certain purchase to a no sale unless there are significant improvements between demo and full game.

I think an open world environment can work in this type of arcade racer (e.g. midnight club) but it doesn't in this case based on the demo. The demo for NFS Most Wanted was better than this in my opinion.

As so many have said though - where are the cars? Where is all the traffic?

Why create a "vast living breathing" city that...er....seems to be a ghost town?

Even with a "slow" car get boosting down the coast road and it's pretty damn zippy. Hitting a gas station to insta-refill boost will make a huge impact on what route you decide to take on a race as well as you toss up whether taking a short cut and missing out on a top up is worth it or not.

It's made me order burnout revenge and look to see if any of the other ones are BC.

It was an OKish demo but didn't really blow me away, which is what Burnout HAS to do.

I didn't like it, it's not Burnout anymore, it's something else entirely. It's off my radar completely for the time being but I was always super sceptical. As for that DJ......

The game's finished, so there'll be no changes between this and the release.

I liked it though. Dunno why people are saying there's no traffic - I found it difficult to complete any race due to the amount of other cars around. Loved the online integration too - works better than TD:U as it's very easily switched on and off

It's gone onto my rental list for sure

Y'see, I've had a similar problem to what's being said on here: is there enough here for a full game?

There certainly was with Revenge, so much so that I went out and bought several of the previous games.

That cover / title screen artwork is still shite though!

I did say there were more cars on the PS3 version though - definitely feels a bit more populated.

I didn't like it enough for me to eulegise about it as much as I did about BOR. It feels like a sandbox for sandbox's sake.
