Well, the series as a whole is excellent. I'm not sure if I'm getting number 4, though, so I'm unsure as to whether to try the demo or not (if I am going to get the game anyway I generally avoid demos these days).

Cool beans, I tried a demo in a shop a while back and it seemed ace. Have to grab this today.

I'm in the exact same position except for 360, obviously :)

Didn't have time to try it tonight, have to try and grab some time tomorrow.

Tried it and it's kind of OK. Incredibly detailed graphics and insanely smooth (you can tell it's 60FPS) but not sure about the gameplay. Seems to be traditional Capcom linear level design along with a curiously fun fighting model.

That music though ;_;

Really like this, the linear level stuff was a little stale at first, but once they've told you how to do loads of moves it becomes really good fun chopping up the enemies.

The battle versus the giant flaming thing is ace, flying around in the air using the grab attack. Really responsive and exciting fighting engine, very impressed.

Oddly this demo is near identical to the one I played in a game shop nearly a year ago, I reckon the PS3 version must have been done for ages.

Interesting, and somewhat saddening. I'd probably have bought it without question if it had come out a while ago.

If you're not sure about it you should maybe give the demo a shot, I really enjoyed it.

It's just coming at the wrong time, tbh. I have a decent sized order from Play-Asia, a massive order from amazon.co.jp and my new telly to account for this month, so I really shouldn't spend any more money. :(

/is also in the "never played a DMC game' camp

Always listened to one of my colleagues banging on about how great they were yet never bothered.

Might try the demo though, apparently the scenic graphics are a bit special.

What a weird thread with so many people not having played a DMC game!

I must admit I've never finished one because I've always got bored...

Can't believe you lot didn't play the first one... PS2 was on a massive roll at the end of 2001 iirc, with Burnout, DMC and a couple of others. What were you playing instead?!

The PS3 version looks very nice (no tearing or framerate issues) although the gameplay has nothing new in it whatsoever which is a disappointment. I don't know if it's me but it seems a lot easier than DMC3.

Speaking of tearing, does Stevas know about the site move? I've not seen him around recently.

DMC1 was excellent, even I bothered to finish it. 2001 was a very good year.

I thought there was massive framerate drop everytime that devil-monster-horse-whatever hit the ground with his sword, at least it looked like the whole game stopped fpr about half a second.

Don't think I'm going to bother with this. I liked the first chunk of the demo, but not the second (when I got completely spanked). I really can't predict what the quality will be like.

But then, I'm buying Turok on day one. Quality's never been that important to me.

I thought the demo was alright, though purchase will only happen once this reaches the bargain corner I think.

I tried a replay of it and it's definitely not for me. As said before, the actual game engine is amazing but the game itself not so much

I'd really like to get it, but I've just had two games turn up so I'll see how I feel when I'm done with those.

Amazing looking game, but very reminiscent of a cross between Ninja Gaiden and Heavenly Sword - though without the tearing thankfully.

Very impressive boss fight in the demo and the sheer amount of detail packed into the architecture is stunning.

Definitely a cheapo purchase methinks but not at full price.

I didn't get much time on the demo before Retroid strong armed me into playing Burnout Paradise last night. Well when I say strong armed he sent me an invite. Anyway it's very much DMC again which while very pretty I can't say this will be anything but a renter.

I know the controls are based around the DS layout as well but using the right bumper for lock-on on the 360 is complete shit really.

Heh, looks like the PS3 version suffers from a requirement to be installed. Skate did this too and it's the suckiest thing ever, especially as it takes fecking AGES (like, upwards of 20 minutes ages)! It's easily the worst thing about the PS3

I dunno I quite like the idea if it speeds things up. In DMC isn't it supposed to nearly eliminate loading times. If it's a choice it's fine by me, a requirement is a little different I suppose.

I suppose it's a bit of a pain when you get back from the shop with your new purchase though.

They were saying on C+VG that it's not much faster than the 360 version playing from DVD...
