You guys looking forward to this?

I've just read the preview on EG (which you may want avoid if you don't want any sort of spoilers) and it sounds like it is going to very cut scene heavy. No surprise there then, but a 20 minute plot update with interactive cameras sounds over the top even for Kojima ;-)

Not in the slightest. I thought MGS was OK-ish, 2 was unplayable, 3 was promising but far too linear and so I can't exactly say that I'm pinning all my hopes on MGS 4 as being some kind of saviour

I am to get my hands on MGO, not a massive fan of MGS, though I played through number 1 when it came out.

Only MGS I have played is the demo of 1 and all of 2.

I have to admit that I liked 2 even with its over kill on cut scenes. I'm not a massive fan of stealth games. I hate games like Splinter Cell where if you are detected it is game over. At least with MGS you can just shoot your way out of trouble ;-)

As for MGS4 I think I will wait until it hits the bargain bins.

Comes out on my birthday. :)

But, yes, one of the handful of PS3 titles I can happily say I'm picking up this year. Again, not reading anything about it until I've played it a bit myself.

I was determined not to buy into the hype this time although I loved the setting of MGS3 and wish they'd done a bit more like that.

But I know I'll end up with it. Cos I'm weak!

Comes out on the day my baby is due, so might not get to play it for a while.

Like no other game this year.

I'm not reading any previews (haven't been for a little while), but I am watching any official trailers, which is my general attitude towards spoiler-type things these days (well, it's what I did with Halo 3, anyway).

Had a flick through Famitsu in the combini, MGS got straight tens.

Still trying to figure out which version to get, and if I'll have any time to play it. I'll probably wait to see how the multiplayer pans out in terms of IP region locking.

Yeah, MGS is a bit of a bitch language-wise with all the jargon and such. Pausable cutscenes should help though, if you do have to get the Japanese version to allow you to play MGO.

I got my limited edition guidebook delivered today. It's an really, really nice looking hardcover book but a little bit worrying to be holding such a trove of spoilers. Can't risk taking a peek at the artwork until the game's done with, obviously.

I heard previously that they weren't putting different language tracks on the disk, hopefully it'll have subtitles and menus in English if I do have to get that version.

I wonder if MGO will also be available on the store.

It's the type of game I'd want to play* in japanese with english subtitles.

* presuming I ever do. I own the first two MGS games and I've never played #2 and only not escaped the arctic base at the start of #1...

My god is there really two cut scenes near an hour and a half long in MGS?

Just been reading the EDGE review and it's starting to sound less and less for me.

Fuck it fuck it fuck it.

Gameplay didn't cancel my order as requested, and just sent it any way.

Fuck.

Yeah, but isn't the MGO release seperate? As retail and possibly with engine (in some ways) too.

No you get MGO on the disc with MGS4; with extra maps and game modes via PSN.

Do you know if there's a full DLC one coming as an alternative, or do you have to grab the MGS disks to get hold if it?

I love the comments on the edge review:
8/10? The review doesn't really mention what cut 2points off of this title. I just get the impression the writer's going 'I want to be the guy that gives MGS4 a sorta-mediocre-yet-lower-than-expected score, it will make me UNBIASED and OBJECTIVE, yeah! I'll be vague and smarmy to get what I waaant'

The official site only mentions getting expansions packs online. It looks like you'll have to buy MGS4 to have access to MGO.

I'll be very curious to hear views on it from trusted forumites. I'm currently on the verge of getting a PS3 primarily for it...

It does look good Flex, but it's a lot of money to spend just to play one game!

I'd recommend getting a PS3 though for Uncharted, Resistance, Ratchet & Clank, Motorstorm and GT5P. Blu-Ray films are a bonus too; if a bit expensive at the moment ;-)

Well, let's say MGS4 is more the tipping point...

/puts away 2005 buzz word dictionary

...because there are quite a few others that interest me, including the ones you mention. And Killzone 2.

The question is whether I can live without the fix of the Achievement Unlocked pip.

Yeah, though to be honest, I can't remember the last time I was online :-(

Shared connection, hellish workload and one infant / one baby combo has ruined my x-live.
