Well, it's the first thing worth downloading from PSN for ages so it's bound to be!

Apart from Echochrome, of course ;-)

Guess it's time to go home and warm the PS3 up!

Finally finished downloading!

P.S. Anyone else spot the "secret agent calnk" video? Nice to see some top notch quality control at SCEE ;-)

Is this really big enough news for an exclamation point and a man-with-his-arms-in-the-air? Maybe if I didn't know you had a 360 I could see why you were getting so excited, but...

Demo seems pretty good fun to me, will definitely end up buying it.
Sure, the graphics aren't quite up to Uncharted standards (*), and no it doesn't feel like it'll be the next "Halo-killer" (sorry) but it did everything I wanted it to :-)

Has anyone tried the coop mode in the demo yet?

* - Although there is more happening on screen at any one time than Uncharted, so I can forgive the slight differences in quality. And I do quite like the bendy, twisty, warpy effects that seem to happen when you dose up or take your helmet off, and the smoke is quite cool.

Ok... just had a quick run through on Normal and then on Hard (didn't notice any real difference between the two though).

It is very smooth, has a real immediacy to the controls which is always appreciated. But... visually it really didn't feel like it was trying too hard. Everything seems incredibly soft and washed out. Didn't see anything glitch, anything too jaggy... but I felt everything seemed quite poorly defined. Odd, given the ridiculous outfits Mantel troops wear.

It's certainly getting purchased, but I don't think it's going to be the essential game that many quarters have been hoping for.

That said, really nice to get my hands on it... at last. :)

I'm just curious, and I know a few people were looking forward to see what Nekotcha and his 'homies' had been up to ^__^

Demo's just finished download so I'll be going to take a look at it once we've finished watching Lost...

So I hear there's co-op in the demo? If the co-op rocks I might buy it, but it's taken far too long and was one of my original "grr mandatory install" games, which has probably unfairly put me off.

Looks like there is co-op in the demo! Not tried it yet and the online login timed out, presumably because of the number of people trying it, but I'm game at some point.

Verdict: short demo, but liked what I saw. Visuals are 'nice' and a bit none-realistic-looking for me, but good at what they do. Basically, think Halo 3; adequate with some quite nice touches. Audio is fine, voicework is good enough, controls are VERY nice and show off the DS3 well, very smooth for tiny movements (with sod-all deadzone from what I could tell) and nice larger movements when you're fighting.

I'll be picking this up.

How are Halo 3's graphics "adequate"? They are absolutely perfect. If it looked like Crysis then it wouldn't be Halo anymore.

I'm talking more of the campaign in Halo 3. When it was trying to do the jungle it looked a bit poor. Haze manages better than that but doesn't look 'convincing', if you know what I mean. Realistic.

The controls are great, really responsive and accurate.

Environments were pretty nice I thought, without being spectacular.

Not sure whether I'll be getting it yet.

After one run through the single player, and some online play, my first impressions are a big thumbs up!

Graphics are nice; with a solid framerate, no jaggies and no tearing. Even when things are going buck wild at the start and end of the demo the graphics engine copes with ease.

Team mate ai seemed to be fine. They will use cover, try to flank the enemy and actually kill people! Enemy ai works seem to work much the same.

Coop campaign works very smoothly. You can drop in and out as you like with the ai making up the numbers as needed. It also integrates your PS3 friends list for sending out invites to those already on Haze. Never had any bother with lag either hosting or joining others. The coop game plays like the single player cutscenes and all.

I'm so glad this didn't turn out to be crap. I've been looking forward to this for ages and was worried after all the delays. Hopefully the rest of the game will live up to the potential shown in the demo.

Technically I thought it was slick. But it just didn't make me care enough. It sadly lacks a gripping storyline and everything just feels generic. Like Dark Sector, it's yet another shooter that has one "feature" (the nectar, whereas Dark Sector had the Glaive) and nothing to build on it with.

Sorry but not a potential purchase for me, alas.

I did think they'd probably made a mistake with the section of the game they'd chosen. It interested me because I knew where it was going to go after that, as part of the whole it'd be fine. As a stand-alone demo that part of the story wasn't particularily engaging in itself.

Played through the demo a few more times and I still think it is great.

Graphically it reminds me of Resistance. Everything looks good, but it lacks that next gen polish that you see in COD4, UT3 and Uncharted. You don't see much use of bump mapping, normal mapping and the like. However like Resistance the frame rate is rock solid no matter how intense the action gets.

I'll definitely be getting this and hope to see a few of you PS3 guys online for some coop campaign action \o/

Played it through again. Got to say how impressed I am with how it handles. I hope Killzone 2's aiming works as smoothly as this.

I find I'm humming Simon and Garfunkel's The Boxer when I get near the crash site, though...

Okay, played through it a few times now and really quite like it. Battles seem like they "feel" organic enough when you're playing them, some nice visual touches (even if the game is hardly Crysis to look at) and the shooting itself is solid and entertaining, which bodes well for the competitive multiplayer. Hurray for customizable controls, too, no need to learn a different button layout to Halo 3. ^_^

Hope you will be able to increase the stick sensitivity, though, just needed to be able to spin my view around a touch quicker.

I feel that everyone should buy it purely because they've managed to integrate in-game messaging to people on your friends list! Although you only seem to be able to actually send invites to people who are actually in HAZE at the time.

We should all buy it if only to support Nekotcha, never mind the fact that it's actually a good game!

/might consider turning PS3 on for first time in 6 weeks today to download it
