So PSM3 and EGM magazines are both going to have previews of Bioshock on the PS3.

This is a bit out of the blue as I thought all the rumours of a PS3 version were just wishful thinking by fanboys!

Hopefully this will fare well on the PS3 and maybe have some additional content over the 360/PC versions. The problem is the PS3 seems to always come of worst with cross platform titles. Maybe 2K games are only announcing the port now when they are sure they can do the game justice on the PS3.

Extra cash always helps, eh?

There was a spectacular fanboy exlosion over this on EG, some cretin (WHO WASN'T A FANBOY, HE JUST THOUGHT THE PS3 WAS GREAT AND THE 360 WAS SHITE, YOU SEE) who said FPS games weren't FPS games if they didn't have multiplayer. And then said all scifi shooters were silly and rubbish anyway. Yet he created a thread about this and posted on the already-started thread too.

Nnnngh.

Great news about a great game. Bring the game to those who missed it first time around. Add some extra content for those of use who played it originally. Win fucking win.

Or, even better, take some away. That'd be sweet.

Bioshock. Big on promises, oh so very poor at following them through

Bioshock is one of two games (well, unfortunately there are more than two, but with these two it was a conscious decision) in the recent past that I bought and haven't even put in the drive after the negative hype that kind of backlashed against one particular thing, that being that the actual "game" part of it sounded a bit limited compared to how I'd imagined it.

The other one was Oblivion, I can't get over the psychological hump of the enemies that level with you.

BioShock is a very, very good game.

It's just not the second coming of Jesus that some people seemed to think it was and the morality aspect is super weak.

Certainly worth playing and it has bags of atmosphere.

Really enjoyed the first half of Bioshock, but when the story dried up so did my interest in it.

Oblivion though is one of my all time favourites, you should play it ilmaestro before the graphics date even more. I didn't find the levelling monsters that much of a problem, as you gradually get more skills that make dealing with them easier.

I was really excited for it, bought the limited edition from GAME, a big guide so that I could do any "extra" bits... and then I took the hump over the levelling enemies. I could give it a go over the weekend (well, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday) as I was planning to play HAZE.

Bioshock is one of the finest games I've ever played. The richness of the game world is so far ahead of that of it's nearest rivals it simply isn't true. I can't understand any of the bitching about it.

Some people are just spoilt rotten, I guess. ;)

To be honest I only bitch about it because is was so annoyingly close to being super-amazingly-mega-awesomeo-brilliant it was, well, annoying. I think I'd almost have been happier if it was actually been a bit worse!

I'll definitely play it one day. I was tempted when seeing it at Zavvi for only £15 last weekend, but I want to see if I can find the tin box edition for a good price.

Apologies for moving off-topic, but to assuage ilm's fears; Oblivion started off a bit slowly in my opinion ilm, but somewhere between that initial reaction and the realisation that I've spent over 120 realtime hours in there it must've taken.

I think that the quick-travel, and the missions mostly being a great bite-size length of around 20 minutes gives you the 'one more mission before bed' feeling. There are still monsters that capitulate in one blow even at high levels, but you'll be grateful of the levelling monsters as it keeps the challenge up a little.

Oblivion = great! \o/

I admit I toned down the difficulty of the combat but that's because I was finding everything else about it so much fun I didn't want to let anything get in the way by fucking me over when I didn't expect it :)

Best advice to get into it: follow the main quest and wander around the places you're sent to. In no time at all you'll start to develope a feel for the places and pick up some interesting side quests to consider which have no bearing on the main plot as such but are fun to do themselves.

Also: join some guilds!

Anyone downloaded the demo on PS3?

....

I was expecting a very good port, what with the time given and all the stuff about extra work on it.

It's not... some noticeable framerate drops and some texture effect problems, especially with the water surface through haze - a bit of a problem with this game!

Downloaded it out of interest but haven't tried it. I heard it was supposed to be identical though? Maybe an older build?

I tried it for about 2 minutes, then I went back to LBP, because I was scared of that slicer thingy and I felt incredibly stuck do one path, which I somehow managed to learn to hate over the last few days even though that I never minded it before.

Edit: It was very good at creating an atmosphere.

I tried it when i still had my 360. Didn't like it at all and was only trying it on the PS3 out of curiosity to see how it looks.

I wubbed it.

The twist half way through was jaw dropping (I'm rubbish at spotting twists until they actually happen).

Would you kindly play this game to completion.

Picked up the CE from Currys for a tenner the other day but haven't fired it up yet- wasn't overwhelmed by the demo though.

Anyone tried the PS3 demo yet? It's actually not too bad. There's little to nothing to show for an extra year in development (course, there might be in the full game but I doubt it). It's rather nice but then I'm a complete hoebag for the PC and 360 versions. Agree with Paul that there seem to be some frame issues here and there, definitely when it gets busy and watery.

Yeah, tried it over the weekend. Looked no different to my eyes but then I didn't have an HDTV when I played the 360 one
