One good thing (if you can call anything to do with "the other place" a good thing) is that most of the PR contacts we managed to accrue while working there are still intact. This means that we might be able to nab review copies of stuff.

The first PR contact has got in touch offering up the following list of games that they handle, and asking us whether we want to cover them for review.

Here's the list:

Imperium Romanum: Expansion Pack
Monster Madness - Grave Danger
Galactic Civilizations II: Endless Universe
Things on Wheels
Geo-political Simulator

QUARTER 4 - 2008
Ninjatown
X Blades
Raven Squad
Two Worlds: Epic

QUARTER 1 - 2009
Ceville
Imperium Romanum II
Big Bang Mini
Brave: A Warrior's Tale
Brave: Shamen's Challenge

QUARTER 2 - 2009
Roogoo
Edge of Twilight

These are spread across most of the major formats so there should be something for everyone there. No other details were given, just this list and the offer of review and preview copies. I've asked for them all to see if we actually get any of 'em but you never know.

The catch? Write for us. Three things will get us more stuff like this which we can then pass on to you so you can review 'em and see your name up on the front page instead of the usual suspects.

1) News - It might seem insignificant but PR companies, publishers and developers like to see their shit getting coverage on the front page. The more news you can post and generate, the more chance we've got of getting somewhere with this site. You may not come here for the news, in fact you probably don't even come here for the front page at all (heh) but PR companies do - so stuffing any rich tasty gobbets of news into the CMS (and digging it, please please please) will help us no end

2) Write something that's unique. That's not easy in the games industry but Rich's article on the Guitar Hero II fix got us more hits in 1 day than we'd had in a year previously. Stuff that's exclusive will get this site recognised and keep it going and hopefully bring it to the attention of big assed publishers, developers and PR companies which again means we can pass on more goodies to you (and maybe, just maybe net a few ourselves into the bargain - who knows!)

3) Pull in favours if you've got 'em owing. If you know any contacts we could hit up for stuff, if you are in the industry yourself and know how we can get interviews, beta signups etc, then it'd all be welcome.

Share and share alike should be the philosophy. I've no real interest in accruing 50 copies of PC RPGs but you might be. I'm not that fussed about DS games but you might be. If we go forward with the idea of spreading the wealth, and turning AATG into something that "the other place" could never hope to have become, then it'll be down to you.

To add my 50p to this I also have an early preview build of Multiwinia on the PC and Custom Play Golf if anyone wants to play and do a write up of them.

That's the SouthPeak release schedule, innit, Peej? Courtesy of the lovely ladies at Chaloner Associates? I've got reasonably good contacts over there, so if you're having trouble getting a game, give us a shout.

Ninjatown is definitely one to watch out for...

How's about that copy of Baroque we had left over from the Other Place, Rich? I'll do you a review for that if you wing it my way...

I like the idea of Raven Squad but considering the publisher it's most likely to be complete shit.

Yup. Greedily I just said 1) Gimme a list of what you've got and 2) send it but that's probably not the best approach :)

A bit of both, I think, Hairy. Although I wouldn't want to create more work for you by getting you to proof-read and post things up for me, not at the moment! :o

Aah that's no probs mate, I've spent the last 8 months subbing and editing all day long so it's not a problem at all.

And in fact if it encourages and helps you to contribute then I'm all for it.

I'll offer my services also for a bit of proofreading, story submission or anything else. I understand that access to the CMS is limited at the moment so if you've got anything you want sticking up on the front page with your name attached to it, then chuck me a mail at phil@allaboutthegames.co.uk

Gamespress ID's are phenomenally easy to get hold of though. Shouldn't have much in the way of problems getting new ones for AATG if Hairy asks them nicely

Aah, right, just checked and the watermarks are back. They were still clear a couple of days ago, for me anyway.
