First - the obligatory Anti Troll attempt.

This thread isn't for trolling. This thread is to attempt to find out whether any of you still use your Wii on a regular basis. So here's a few quessies.

1) How often do you use your Wii per week?

2) What do you usually play on it?

3) If you are a multi-platform gamer, do you tend to favour other platforms before the Wii?

Cheers,

1)Once a month at the moment, so 1/4 time a week.
2)Weather Channel.
3)Yes.

Haven't bought a game in months for it, after getting burned by games I'd bought previously. The no demo situation is making it hard to know what I'm going to like.

1. Uh, well, past few weeks not at all. But not so long ago, when Nintendo ACTUALLY RELEASED A GAME THAT WAS WORTH BOTHERING WITH, quite a bit. So my answer is: quite at all, or not at a bit. Yes.

2. Smash Bros, most recently. Right next to fuck all worth bothering with since. RIGHT NEXT TO.

3. I'd say the pecking order currently goes:
Xbox
360
GP2X
PS2 (but only for that one game, yeah, you know the one)
DS
Wii

So... yeah, I'd say Nintendo aren't really winning me over at the moment.

I tell you what, too: I just noticed how it looks like I'm a bit of an MS fanboy there, but I'm not. I still got love for Sony and Nintendo...

they just aint returning any of my calls, man.

Or replying to the letters, for that matter.

With no hint of trolling and on a completely stating-the-facts basis:

I've not used my Wii since finishing Mario Galaxy and that was around January.

1) Never
2) Mario Galaxy is the only retail game I've played on it
3) Yeah

1) Probably once or twice a week on average.
2) Tiger Woods & messing around with the Homebrew Channel.
3) 360 over the Wii 90% of the time.

I'm quite tempted by Tiger Woods 09, but after the previous version and the Big Beach Sports debacle, I vowed not to buy another sports game until Wii MotionPlus is out. Other than that, I can't think of too much on the horizon that peaks my interest.

See, I think it's too late for a lot of gamers. Nintendo does keep going on about all the "core projects" they've got in the pipeline, but it'll be too little too late for me - and at the moment the Wii gets used solely for reviews plus the odd bit of waggling that goes on whenever family are round and badger me enough to get the bloody thing set up...

They still haven't convinced me. The only thing about Wii that piques my interest is the virtual console but with the storage being as it is, it's not something that I'd ever find myself ploughing too much into it

This was the subject of an article in this month's (super-thick) Edge magazine. I think the conclusion was that having moved from making playing cards, to taxis and later, video games, they were now moving away from 'games' and into 'entertainment'. Of course, mister Nintendo disagreed, but this thread seems to back it up...

Me, I haven't even bought a Wii yet, despite owning all three of the 'last-gen' machines. I was happy to play Twilight Princess on the 'cube and nothing else has even come close to tempting me to part with (not very much) cash.

This thread wasn't prompted by that article, honest :)

I just thought that, with the immense amount of games being released this last quarter of '08, things seem to be a little bit scant on the Wii - Plenty of shovelware, but very little meat to get your teeth into

The decent games that I wanted to play on buying the console still haven't dropped in price enough, either.

Well, some are hitting 15, like Metroid Prime 3, so I guess that might be a goer, soon.

S'odd, though. I know the PS3 isn't the best of online consoles, but even after getting used to that level of online integration (not quite on the level of Live), going back to Wii seems like it'll feel disconnected.

1) None at present, but I took it on holiday with me, and haven't gotten around to setting it all back up yet.

2) I've got SMG and Metroid left to finish, need to get back into the WiiFit habit. Waiting for Samba to come out.

3) Not deliberately, but considering I've got a backlog on every console to work through, there's always going to be some platforms getting ignored. At the moment, the PS3 is getting all the attention. Tomorrow, next week, next month, who knows?

PS3's getting a lot of love at home too at the moment, weirdly (mostly because I've sorted out the media sharing stuff properly)

Then the 360..

Then finally the Wii.

There's a good question: is everybody still keeping Wii Fit or has the balance board found its way to the cupboard? :)

I haven't switched my Wii on in about six months now. I've been tempted to return to a few things like Mario Galaxy to get all the stars but have never gotten past the hurdle of bothering to plug the component cables back into my TV. :)

But then I've had periods with my 360 and PS3 where I've barely touched them too. My PS3 was exclusively a DVD player for more than the first six months after I bought it and until Halo 3 last year I hadn't played on my 360 for probably 7-8 months.

I think we will see more (ahem) 'proper' games for the Wii though in time, simply because it's selling so well. I don't think all devs will simply decide to make casual games for it because not all devs want to make casual games, and there's clearly a market for hardcore games on the console, even if it might not be quite as big as the market for casual titles.

Of all my consoles the PS3 is the one that gets most attention. Even though it and the 360 are pretty equivalent my PS3's HD is bigger and it's the quieter of the two consoles, so for all multiplatform titles I tend to go for the PS3 version. There's some pretty interesting stuff about on PSN these days too (even if Sony are shite at keeping the Euro store updated).

We hardly use it at all anymore. Mrs Moose might get some wii fit use after the baby arrives, but the most I've done with wii fit in the past few months was this.

edit: oops. Forgot to answer the questions properly:

1) 0 times a week, at the mo.
2) The wife was playing FF my life as a king for a bit.
3) Always the 360 before the Wii. It's "all about the games" innit?

As with all my other consoles, I only switch it on when I've got something to play on it. I don't buy many games at all, a few good ones will happily last me throughout the year. There's quite a few games I've still to pick up - the likes of No More Heroes, Zack & Wiki, Super Paper Mario being the main ones - and I've had Metroid Prime 3 unplayed on my shelf since Christmas! Then there's LostWinds on WiiWare, about time I downloaded that.

So yeah, to answer the questions:

1) Depends - if I'm playing a game, it could be every day. Otherwise it might not be used for months.

2) Again, depends - I try to replay classic games (still got to get back to SMG), but it's a case of whatever I feel like playing. Most recently it's been Smash Bros. Brawl, although Mario Kart does get a few plays online now and then.

3) Yes. Handheld games are where it's at for me, as funny as it may sound I rarely have the time or inclination to sit down and play 'proper' home console/PC games.

The whole 'not switching a console on for months' is not a new thing for me - it's happened with all consoles, including the GC. Depends what I'm currently into at any given time. The problem with the Wii is that it's such a niche console (maybe not in terms of sales, but certainly in the sense that it's an oddity) that it's hard not to think of most of its quality games as nothing more than interesting curios.

It's true that there's much less stuff for proper gamers to get their teeth into, and unfortunately I don't see the situation changing any time soon. Fortunately for me, I have enough games on other consoles to keep me occupied, even though I don't own a PS3/360.

1. Not once so far
2. I would play Mario and Zelda if I had the Wii
3. I'd probably favour the PS3 just because there are more games on it I like to play and I just can't get enough of Burnout Paradise.

No, I don't. It's been used maybe twice since Codestorm's fuckwit managed to ignore my instructions, tested it with the wrong game for five minutes and then returned it unfixed.

I haven't even bothered to buy Metroid Prime 3 or Super Mario Galaxy for it. In fact, I haven't bought anything for it since before those two games were released.

1) I hadn't been using much since Smash Bros, but now I have Tiger Woods 09 it is most nights.

2) Tiger Woods 09 presently. Mario Kart, Smash Bros and Endless Ocean to relax :-)

3) I got the Wii for the different gaming experience the motion controls provide. Wii Sports is the obvious example of this, but Tiger Woods is my favourite game on the system by a long way. I don't think I will ever bother with a golf game without motion controls.

For me it is not really about favouring one system over another. I'll just play whatever game I fancy whether it be on the Wii or PS3.

2) Guitar Hero 3 pretty much exclusively at the moment

3) It's my only console, but I prefer my PC

1) Use it 4-5 days a week

2) Wii fit regularly. Okami and Geometry Wars Galaxies are the others in rotation at the moment

3) I tend to buy most games for my 360 purely because there are more of my type of game released on the 360.

1) Most days

2) Playing some US GC games at the moment ( Fire Emblem ), also the original MK and the latest version. Occasionally watching a movie on it, though transferring them to SD is a pain.

3) I play the PC more for sure, though I feel that's down to the recent releases like DMC, Mas Effect and Flatout on it.

The one thing that the Wii has done is become a lovely machine for retro purely down to the fact I love the Classic controller so much. Like others I'm feeling the drought and also the desire to get the balance board to play the skiing game. I'm expecting it to get rather a lot more use once I head to University though.

I am also waiting for a copy of Tiger Woods 09 as I've been enjoying Hotshots 2 on the PSP.

trading in the Wii was the most pain-free way of acquiring band in a box that I could think of.

seeing as the Wii gets trotted out at every other public gathering I go to, I didn't see much point in keeping it. The fuckers don't have rock band do they? And that's much better!

1) Occasionally. I've not bothered with it recently for some reason, even though I have games on it I want to play.
2) At the moment I'm in the process of finishing off Resident Evil: UC and SMG. Started both a while ago and I've not bothered to go back to them again recently. Mario Kart gets played more frequently mind.
3) I'd say I've played my 360 more recently - Mass Effect, GTAIV and the demos on marketplace. Been trying to catch up with the remaining PS2 games I want to conquer too (Okami and FF12)

The Wii has got a miserable line-up coming out until beyond March next year. I can see that Animal Crossing will be a biggie, but other than that and Wii Sports Resort, it's looking very lifeless. Wii Music looks dreadful.

But, I don't really mind. There's SO much coming out on the 360 and PC over the next 4 months to keep me occupied. And of course some even for the PS3, shock horror.
