Anyone taken the plunge? I did look for a thread but couldn't find one.

Bit bored of WoW at the moment (at least until Lich King arrives) and wondered if this was worth shelling out for.

Monthly subs tho eh? *grumble mumble*

I'm tempted, I used to love the Warhammer setting and a chance to play as some of the characters is really appealing. Have to wait and see how I feel when my gaming PC is back to working order.

Black Orc ftw :)

it's good fun but i'm taking it easy on the game, no marathon sessions like with WoW at launch

This and the new CoH are the only two that hold any interest for me at the moment.

Got this yesterday, installed, registered and verified an account. I try to patch but it comes up with 'authentication failed'.

On the website there is nowhere to login so I can type in my CD key and I suspect that's the problem.

I can see the outline of a login box but it's kind of greyed out and useless.

PC game launches have become a joke lately. If it isn't DRM cocking things up then it's MMO launches that are borked beyond belief.

Tis bloody good.

In single player it's WoW by numbers really, which is no bad thing. Public quests are awesome. I did the first one.

Basically you enter an area and the public quest kicks off automatically. You don't need to join a party. It might have 3 stages such as:

Kill 20 of these guys.
Keep this guy alive for 4 minutes.
Defeat the large troll boss.

More people join the quest as it goes on then once done the game rolls for loot based on your contribution.

It's better than LOTRO by a country mile, can't compare it to Conan though.

Dunno if I'll subscribe, I'll play this month out and see how I feel.

Lich King is just around the corner....

Resident MMO head at work said more or less the same thing. After the pain of trying to get it up and running and patched he finally got in with his Wizard, and claims there's going to be a lot more to it than Conan.

If anyone fancies jotting down some first impressions, that'd be dreckly.

Tried unsuccessfully to get on last evening over a 2 hour period with no joy.

moar servers pls GOA!

Seriously, does every MMO launch have to be a pile of crap?

Tried logging on early this morning and didn't have any problems.

The first content patch sounds pretty cool, and is quite enticing just as I reach the end of my free month.

Really enjoying the blend of public quests scenarios PvP, and standard adventuring. It's keeping my interest up.

Into my first subscription month and still going strong. My opinion of the soloing/Public quests go up and down, but the Scenarios are a really great back bone that keep me playing.

There doesn't seem to have a been a fatal drop off in users, though they have given people the option of free transfers to more populated servers. I hope it keeps going as I'm really enjoying it.

Couldn't get into WOW when I tried the free trails. Started off really slow, where as WAR is war from the start. Plus I'm in love with the PvP scenarios and open battles which I've heard aren't in WOW.

Ah, I had you pegged as one of the people who raced through all the content in the first three days, Mappy. ;)

Any free trial periods available on WAR? It's always interested me but I'm very wary of getting into mmo's again since I just don't think I have the time to make it worthwhile.

Anyone still playing this? I'm very tempted to give it a shot after a 3 year absence from WoW. How's the population at the moment?

I'm trying the WOW: Burning Crusade trial first to see if I'm likely to be arsed with something of this scale first though.

I lasted 2 and a half months (about my usual for MMOs) Had a great time with the PVP scenarios as well as the public quests when there were people about to do them. General questing got a bit tired playing solo in the end and I've always had trouble with the monthly fees on these games so I stopped.

I decided to go with WoW for a full month (based partly on what you've said) - I figure that's about as long as any of them will grab my attention so it might as well be the cheap one that I haven't played for 3 1/2 years.

As far as I can tell WAR needs a decent number of players online for it to be at it's best. Maybe in a few months it'll get to that point and then I'll give it a shot.

The PVP scenarios were set up in away that player numbers weren't too much of a problem. You can queue from anywhere, and carry on PVEing until it's time for you to play. Then it just warps you away to the PVP map, dumping you back in the same spot when it's done.

The team deathmatch / Capture the flag feel of the PVP had me seriously hooked, and is where I did most of my levelling. Classes seemed to compliment each other and teamwork with strangers often worked well.

It's probably worth getting into WAR the next time they release some new character classes, as there's a flood of players making the new characters so the starting areas will be pretty full.
