If you fancy seeing how the building bits in Minecraft work, you could do a lot worse than pick this up. peej about Eden - World Builder |

Coming to the Wii (Wiiware) and PC over the next couple of weeks. Details of releases here - it's likely that it will be released on the likes of Steam and/or impulse too. Video of a level You only seem to get the Goo that swears at you if you get it from their own site though :( |

Damn, the WiiWare version is NA only. In Europe it'll be on disc and next year. Any particular reason for that? Not exactly sure what difference it makes. K |
|||

There's been no mention of it that I can find anywhere. I can only imagine it's a publisher/Nintendo decision; maybe they signed up with someone to sell in Europe first. |
|||
| |||
Rather fancy this but I get the feeling I'm all "physicsed" out this year with LBP. Still looks ace though. Love the art direction. |
|||

It's just been released on Steam, apparently a few hours earlier than the countdown suggested and the demo is currently scheduled for early 2009, around the same time Europe gets the Wii version. |

The disc is supposed to come with extra levels and stuff though, isn't it? |

A lot of people have said this on EG but I don't know why people are blaming NOE - I don't think they have anything to do with it. Might just be a case of 2D Boy already having signed a publisher deal to release it as disc-only. Big shame, though. Steam version is tempting now, though I'd rather play it on the Wii. K |

Don't they have the last say on what gets sent here though ? There were loads of complaints on DS games (and indeed Gamecube ones) that got releases in the US and never saw the light of day here because NOE didn't think they would sell ? I suppose that might have been 1st party stuff, but I thought that Nintendo were much more strict with content than Sony and MS. |

The situation with WoG (!) is completely different, and nothing to do with Nintendo or WiiWare. It's now been taken off Steam as well, because of the agreement 2D Boy have to release it in Europe as a boxed retail copy (both PC and Wii) next year. K |

The demo is up now, even though the interview on RPS said it wouldn't be out until next year. Odd. My Steam bought version still works :) |

Micro_Explosion said: My Steam bought version still works :) I believe a Steam representative explicitly stated that all copies bought via the service (within the limited timeframe the game was available) will remain valid. Incidentally, Steam for once doesn't recognize Poland to be part of Europe (if only it'd work for Ubi games) - I still can purchase WoG. |

I've been playing this for the last few days and it's frankly a staggering achievement. It's probably one of the best things I've ever played in my entire life. It's imaginative, thoughtful, brilliantly designed and the fact that it's made by only two people makes me feel abso-fucking-lutely worthless and a waste of sperm. |
|||
| |||
PC versh? If not, you ARE a waste of sperm :) |
|||
| |||
Are you playing PC version or Wii? This is on my 'will definitely download at some point' list (along with LostWinds and Braid). Edit: Gah, got held up whilst typing the post. Edit 2: What's wrong with the Wii version anyway, Peej? :) |
|||

A lot of people seem to think the Wii version's just as good as the PC version but on levels where timely and accurate placing of goo is a necessity, I could see the Wiimote being a right ballache to use. Still, I'm willing to be proved wrong. World of goo is bloody nice on the PC with accurate mouse pointing. |

I'm almost at the end of Chapter 3 on the Wii and have had no problems whatsoever with the controls. It's a genuinely delightful game on the Wii. |
|||

Hmm... Thread needs more Kalel. He always made a more convincing argument why the Wii version wouldn't work. |
|||
| |||
Has he actually played both versions? |
|||
| |||
Probably not, but he's better at being a grumpy gamer than I am. I've lost the knack. |
|||
| |||
I'll try though - Level spoiler below... --------------- DON'T READ UNLESS YOU'VE PLAYED THROUGH LOADS OF WORLD OF GOO _______________ There's one level where it's critical to build a huge supporting structure very quickly and very accurately. On the PC it's relatively easy to highlight goo nodes, place 'em and start building the structure up really quickly so it eventually reaches the funnel. On the Wii I can't imagine how you'd do this without having to frantically point and click like an absolute nut job. |
|||
| |||
I managed that particular level without any problems. \o/ |
|||
| |||
Fair enough. Hope there's a touch versh of this soon. |
|||
| |||
Pay what you want for World Of Goo |
|||
| |||
Anyone that hasn't bought this yet really should. Do it now. |
|||
| |||
I bought it for the Wii, works really well, but the mouse might be a little easier to use. By little, I mean shit tons, obviously. |
|||
| |||
I'll wait for the iPhone version. :) I would pay the appropriate amount for the Mac version, but I can't see it being much fun with a trackpad. |
|||
| |||
Also, get the soundtrack from the 2D Boy site. It's brilliant. |
