Quick simple post:

1) When a review is added, can the person who put it live or wrote it submit a digg submission for it. It seems people digg articles that have been submitted, but can't be bothered to go through the submission process if it's not their article.

2) Can people use digg more often please. If you're not registered it takes about two minutes to do and brings in a lot of visitors to the site.

It's gonna sound like one of those really twee charitable ads, but if everyone pressed 'digg', it would mean we could do < this much > more. Or something. Possibly save a small puppy. And we might even feed a donkey.

I'll give it a go, if you think it'll help. I'll do a few of the front page articles now.

Cheers Master

For another site I wrote for, it brought in a few thousand hits a month, just by about 8 of us digging the articles.

Is there any point in digging old (even a day old) articles? Like, does it "bump" the article on the digg site, or what?

As far as I ever saw the digged article just appeared on digg.com's "Upcoming" section for a couple of hours before vanishing into the internet ether.

It's actually easier to digg if you're not submitting the original article. Just click on the digg link, job done.

As to adding your own stuff - doo eet. It does work, and it looks like we're getting some good diggs on some of the front page stuff.

Always worth doing for reviews, certainly worth doing if you're sticking up a news story that you don't think has been covered elsewhere.

One day one of my news articles is going to pull in a wave of crazed gaming-defenders, I swear it.

I suspect even more people will be brought in from there for games that receive less coverage from the biggest sites and obscure but interesting news/features.

Exactly what happens. FIFA won't bring in many, but obscure reviews/articles/news stories will.

Review for a DS game that currently has 0 metacritic reviews is coming relatively soonish, and it ain't that bad a game, either :)

Look forward to scrolling straight to the bottom and digging it, pls.

Hey you'd be surprised. About 95% of the new visitors to the site this week have found it by searching for "FIFA 09 Xbox 360 goal celebrations".

If you search for FIFA 09 Leeds or FIFA 09 Impressions or Fifa 09 Leeds the site is quite high in google - more so on the first one.

Whoah and if you search for 'fifa 09 xbox 360 goal celebrations' we're third only behind Amazon and EA!

Oh yeah, I get that. What I meant was I don't think a 'FIFA review' on digg would generate lots of hits. It's got to be something very few other people have. Hence your exact example being a good one.

Hairy, have you used google insights? I dont know if you have enough traffic for them to provide data but it's awfully handy to check related search terms that people use and then adding them in your meta tags.

You mean google analytics? Yeah I actually just signed up in the last few days. At the moment it seems my host's stats are more detailed though, but I'm prepared to give it a chance.

I've actually started looking at digg.com now, since I joined up due to AATG. It is a good time waster when you don't know what to do on the internet.

Must say, though, all digg users seem to be a bunch of Obama-loving liberal tree-hugging c***s.

Sometimes when I digg a new article, the Digg.com ste allows me to use the AATG logo as a thumbnail. Sometimes it doesn't.

Any idea why it doesn't always let me do it?

Does anyone know if I change the DIGG icon to one of the smaller ones without the DIGG IT text underneath, does DIGG still keep track of how many times an article has been DIGGED?

I tried to do Delicio and reddit links on NY's story just to see how it would go and they're even worse than digg for consistency.

Fucking shame that Metacritic and Gamerankings are being such bollockheads.

Hell with 'em. I'll set up my own review critique rating site. With blackjack and hookers.

Well the ratings system's going to be a visual one instead of the usual boring scores. So for a triple A rated title there'll be a sensuous well experienced madam and at the other end of the scale a clapped out trollop with stirrup earrings.

It'll be a runaway success.

Hmmm... no.

/Goes away to design his own metacritic site, with hookers rated on their knowledge of gaming, and blackjack tips so others will be able to afford the likes of Cassandra (likes: walks in the park; reading books; fighting back wave after wave of marauding alien scum in whatever shmup she happens to be into that week while taking it up the shitter)
