Had a bit of a spill on the bike this morning. Slick tyres and slick roads don't always go together.

Ow

Worst thing is that I've fecked my left wrist up good and proper. On the day the Mirror's Edge demo is released :-(

OUCH! Sorry mate. At least you get to go to the doc and get yourself a few days of work to play game... oh wait.
Well you did say your left wrist, yeah?

You'll just have to keep yourself busy in some other way then.

Admit it, there was this really cute guy in a 94 Volvo estate you were trying to impress with a wheelie.

Looks bloody painful mate! Hope it's only superficial damage. How's the bike?

Not had a chance to check the bike properly yet but I think it's OK.

Face has cleaned up OK but I think my nose is broken along with a bone in the back of my hand. Have splinted myself up and will probably walk to the hospital tomorrow when I go back to work

You have my sympathies, hope it's not too painful.
The road surfaces around me are bloody dangerous in places, far too slick with a stupid camber and then they put manhole covers and drain covers right on the line that bikes take. Idiots!
Still, when i came off my mountain bike on an oil slick, stupid road i broke my jaw but managed not to break my big nose during my faceplant. Weird 0_o

Get well soon!

Looks nasty mate - if your left wrist is really painful it might be worth getting it x-rayed. I've fractured my wrist twice in falls, and if it's a scaphoid fracture they're very painful but not really obvious. It's quite a common injury for people coming off bikes.

Ouch.

I made a tit of myself yesterday. Despite all the snow and whatever I was fine but I managed to fall down the stairs in waterstones. I've twisted my ankle badly and think I might have broken one of the small bone on the top of it :(

Uhh... I'm probably young and just don't get it but with two suspected fractures why are you waiting till tomorrow to go to the hospital? Work related? Surely an employer who doesn't let someone go to the hospital for that is minutes away from being up against the wall with a last smoke?

With all the breakages going on in this thread I'm out of here, Stay away from me!

If you're having pain picking stuff up with that hand Rhythm, I would definitely go. Ignoring fractures means painful operations to get plates inserted later on...

Anyone got the number of his missus? He seems to be suffering from the mostly male problem of "pfff doctors, quacks the lot of them-itis" with maybe a dash of "it's alright, it's going green, green's a good colour isn't it? Meh, it'll be fine".

My missus normally cuts through that quite quickly when I try it.

Ouch ! Thinking of getting a full face helmet perhaps ?

Don't listen to the girls, if you can still move your wrist then its pretty unlikely that anything is smashed or badly broken. If its only fractured your'll be fine going tomorrow, after a stiff drink and good nights sleep.

Ouch. Sorry for your misfortune mate, but it sounds like it could have been a whole lot worse.

Still, a few days off sick can only be a good thing right?

That bit's true - the last time I fractured mine it was in the 2nd minute of a 5-aside game. I played the full hour, including a stint in goal catching the ball and making saves. It was only when I was having a lot of trouble and wierd pain when changing gear driving home that I thought something might be amiss.

Actually a Wii and FIFA 09 will allow for one handed gaming.

That bump on your head (Just below the hairline) looks like it's going to just keep on growing too.

Nothing good can ever come from going to hospital. Wheras with my sports support I could still play Mirror's Edge, albeit painfully, a visit to the hospital has left me in a friggin' plaster cast :-(
