Any such thing? My mum's been given one for Xmas and given that my xmas shopping was cut short through illness, I've suggested that I'll pick her up a game or two.

Trouble is, I'm not sure if there's anything decent out there. I know that I should look out for Boom Blox and that Zak and Wiki would be right up her street, but what else is any good? She loves platformers (but hates Mario, so Galaxy is out) and likes action adventure stuff (but hates Zelda).

Her fave games of recent years have been:

- The Sly Raccoon series
- Jak and Daxter
- God of War 1 & 2
- PoP SoT (the entire series)

She also enjoyed Okami and the Lego games.

Any ideas as to what I should add to the list as backups in the (very likely, given Ninty's appalling stocking processes) offchance I can't find Z&W or BB??

Boom Blox is 15 notes at Shopto. No excuse at that price, for anyone.
Wank & Sticky is £13 there too, but currently out of stock.

I guess No More heroes? Not played it myself, yet, but it's supposed to be very good, and would sit as a mix of the Daxter/GoW/Sly Raccoon games, at a push...

Cheers for that.

How does one go about buying Ninty points to spend online? I just heard World of Goo is available for 1500 points and think she'd like that one too. How much would 1500 point actually be in sterling?

You can buy Wii points through the Wii Shop Channel with your credit card. I think it's about £15 for 2000 points.

DVD.co.uk also sell 2000 points for £12.87 if you can wait for them?

Really? I didn't reckon much to it when it was a free PC game. Is it really worth money as a full Wii title?

She ought to put her Mario dislike to one side because it's a shining beacon on how to make the ultimate platformer. It's brilliant.

I've had this conversation with her umpteen times. She's tried and disliked every single one of them. She basically doesn't like platforming for platforming sake. J&D, R&C, Sly Raccoon etc all feature entertaining characters and a semblance of story.

She's very much of the opinion Mario may be the breeding ground of innovation and new concepts but that it takes other people to refine those ideas.

Mario Galaxy is very different to conventional platformers though. There's nothing out there quite like it, it's a game that even Mario haters might just enjoy. And she likes action adventure games, but hates Zelda? Has she got something against Nintendo? :)

How about Super Paper Mario? Haven't played it yet, but it seems to have a mix of platforming and action adventure elements, with a great script.

Wii points are currently £14 in Zavvi, btw.

Good Wii (ie. Nintendo's console) games... but for your Mom.

Who likes platformers... but not Mario.

And likes action adventure... but not Zelda.

Is this a new round on the Krypton Factor? ^^;
