Sad news of Tony Hart passing away.

He may not have the lasting legacy of a Postgate but he certainly got me and kept me drawing through my childhood. Even if it was only to see if my latest 'opus' was present in the gallery. :(

Yeah, i never sent anything in and used to laugh at the gallery but there were also some fantastic pictures shown too. I think it's strangely fitting that such a nice guy should be remembered not so much for his own works but for getting kids interested in art. That's a good legacy.

Weird Tony Hart anecdotes.

1) He drew me a cat eyeing up a fish in a fishbowl when he came to the naming of our old SU bar (the Hart Bar). Kept the drawing somewhere.

2) He shared a room with my mother in law back when she was single. Nothing saucy, she just happened to share the same surname and an over-zealous hotelier put 'em in the same room thinking they were husband and wife.

Lovely bloke. Very sadly missed.
