There's a couple of really nasty moral choices to make later on. TBH though, though there's a strong incentive to play through a second time as an evil bastard - my best intentions lay in bits, I just can't find the motivation to go through some of the "grind" missions again. Now - if you could go through a second time retaining all your powerups and XP.... :)

Red Faction has jetpacks and giant robots.

I think I've made my point.

Me too \o/

I sunk nearly 5 hours into this yesterday exploring the second island. The bad guys are quite a bit tougher and there seems to be a lot more of them. All the more reason to keep increasing more super powers ;-)

Can't wait till you two finish it!

Shouldn't change your opinions at all but it'll be good to discuss it.

Also - are you being good or evil?

Good guy for my first run through. As my powers increase though I do cause quite a bit of collateral damage which hurts my karma!

I am taking my time to complete all the missions available on each island rather than just blasting through the main story. I also get side tracked going after blast shards and dead drops.

My only complaint with the game is I wish you could tone down (or turn off) the controller rumble when you are grinding the railway tracks and riding the top of the train. It's far more vibration than my poor hands can take ;-)

I was as pure as pure could be.

With the odd lapse where I just got fucking pissed off with electrocuting passers-by to revive them so I just started extracting their life forces instead for a quick electricity fix :)

Does your character level up in this and become more super hero like in their powers?

You gain extra powers as you progress through the story. Some of the powers you gain differ depending on whether you are good or evil.

You upgrade your powers using the experience points you gain from killing enemies and completing quests. Upgrades to the three main offensive powers also depend on your characters good or evil rank.

By the time you fully ranked up your character he the power to do some serious damage ;-)

***END GAME SPOILERS***

I'm going to discuss the ending so this is your final warning!

So I just finished my first run through the game as good guy. I enjoyed the story all the way through and the ending came as a big surprise.

It was a nice twist that Kessler was you from the future, ashamed of not using his powers for good and trying to manipulate you to be the city's hero. It will be interesting to see how things change when you are a bad guy.

I can't wait to start my evil run through the game. I'm going to blast the hell out of everything I see ;-)

I forgot about Yahtzee earlier this week, just checked out his latest ZP review and he seems to really like this, apart from the silly good/evil morality with no middle ground, but that's how these morality systems always play out in games.

The list of games he likes is pretty small, so I'll try to grab this cheap somewhere, when I've done a bit more backlog completing.

Finished my second run through the game as a bad guy and I have to say it was a little bit disappointing.

****SPOILERS****

The main story barely changes at all. You'll notice a bigger difference in the evil side missions where you work along side the Reivers.

I also thought the evil powers where no where near as useful as the good powers. I really missed being able to recharge yourself when hitting an enemy with the standard electric bolt. The non homing megawatt hammer was also a let down.

****END SPOILERS****

I was going to go back and find all the blast shards, but I really can't be bothered. I've sickened myself of the game playing it so much lately and decided to trade it in to get Protoype.

Boy are you in for a disappointment :)

Prototype's not completely shit, but it's not a patch on InFamous IMHO. Just feels more of a slog and you really really really don't care what happens to Mercer in it whereas you have a fair bit of empathy for the InFamous blokey.

Cole.

Infamous was indeed a scorcher. Tad repetitive at times (that middle section, where everything just repeated itsef ad-infinitum) but generally very, very good.

It's funny - comparing the two, I thought Infamous was a bit annoying because of the way the NPCs behaved - running everywhere and being of no real consequence. They're worse in Prototype. They really are hapless and just begging to be slaughtered in their thousands.

InFamous really does look a lot better than Prototype too, from the character designs to the cityscapes. So much more detail in I than in P.

Hmmm.

I just don't see how anyone can consider it a success. Targeting and camera are fucked beyond belief. You bounce around like a cunt, which means there's no opportunity for finesse in the controls (I've given up with rooftop races because of this.) There's no sense of connection with anything - neither the landscape nor the populous which you mash without rhyme or reason.

And that's without some shockingly poor graphics. Not that I have a huge issue with that - look at some of the stuff on my played list. I LIKE duff games... But this is beyond that. It's bad. Badly made.

Oh fuck it: it's easily the most disappointing thing I've jizzed money away on in a year. I had such high hopes for it.

I hate everything about it. Everything. Four-out-of-motherfucking-ten.

Ah, that's better.

Whic is really weird, because it's the most fun I've had with a game in ages.

I've put 11 hours in and I've only done half of the missions, I just love running about in the city, cutting a swathe through a crowd, whipping up and nicking a helicopter, and using it to blast a few hives before jumping out onto a tank, and using it to take down a military base, then I'll hack a few viral detectors and stealth my way into a base, and have quite a bit of fun trying to take everyone out without raising the alarm.

The graphics are a little plain, but the frame rate is rock solid, and I've not seen a jot of tearing yet.
