Wow the demo up on live is so slick. Nice presentation, so many options for making it race how you like, and if the demo track is anything to go by, more interesting looking tracks. Only had a quick go but it seems fantastic, plus it's supposed to have that Fujimi track from Forza 1 in the full game which I used to love racing on.

Tried out the demo and think that the more sim like driving games get, the less fun they become.

I do need to put more time into it tho.

I had all the assists turned off and it actually feels less simmy than Forza 2, to me. Drifting is a lot easier as any oversteer is pretty stable. It's no bad thing though as it makes the game more fun and I'm sure you could tune your car to loosen it up a bit and keep more speed in the slides. Hell, I was even drifting in the Mini on one corner and then nailing a perfect line on the next.

:D

I hope it was a classic Mini.

Beautiful game but a couple of goes and it feels utterly sterile. In fact Turn 10 really are trying so hard to become Digital Polyphony that I think they've succeeded. Hoping the car vinyl stuff is a lot of fun and some of the alt-class races are, because the car pron is utterly lovely and it's a graphical tour de force but it's the equivalent of playing driving games in motorway service stations. Pretty sterile and lacking a "fun" element that might've made it more scrumptious.

I'm kidding myself, I'm sure this'll be a day one purchase if for no other reason than to make me dust the FF Wheel down and get it strapped to the ironing board.

I'm pretty sure it will be more fun than GT5.
Which is a shame from my point of few as it's not on PS3.

Gave the demo a quick blast last night and was impressed.

The graphics are very slick and they have improved the lighting which was always dodgy in Forza 2. I thought the in car views were a bit bland and are nowhere near the quality of NFS Shift. Still you get an excellent sense of speed in any view thanks to 60fps framerate.

The track design is excellent and hopefully is an indication of the standard of all the new tracks in the game. The car handling didn't feel that much different from Forza 2, but I'm not enough of petrol head to notice anyway!

My only gripe with the demo was the overly aggressive ai in the R class race. I must have done something to upset the other drivers as they seem to pleasure in running me off the track at any opportunity. In fact twice I've had the car beside me on the start line immediately swerve left into my car in an attempt to run me off the road.

I'm 50/50 on whether to pick this up at launch. I'll need to see how the new career mode is structured. I got sick of the career in Forza 2 about half way through as it just became a grind of races on the same old tracks.

Definitely true about the menus that are very GT like. Personally I found the racing really compulsive, not that I was any good, spent a good hour chatting to a mate and racing the demo track over and over.

Played an hour with GT5 prologue tonight as I wanted to see how that old demo compared to the new forza 3 demo.

I think GT5 prologue just pips the Forza 3 demo at this point.

A few more goes, with assists all off and....now I get it, it's beginning to grow on me. In conjunction with the wheel, and no driving aids, it's got potential to be something special. Still feels a little on the sterile side but having seen some of the cars that will be available in this, there's tons of potential for something superb online and off. I do think I'm becoming more of a dyed in the wool street racing fan though, and the tracks will have to go some to impress me. At least the one in the demo had a few nice little bumps and dips in it to keep me on my toes.

Yeah, I'm hoping the demo track is a good example of a chunk of the tracks. I'm more into tracks like that and that Fujimi one from Forza 1, and less into the real life race tracks, though a mate was saying the opposite to me today. A 50 50 split should keep most people happy :)

Was reading a rather interesting article on the difference between Forza 2 and 3. One of the tracks (I think it's New York) carried over from 2 to 3 looks exactly the same so I wonder how much more game we're getting this time round.

One thing I do like in the demo is taking all the assists off and just seeing how far I can push my sideways drifting. I think I'm a long way off being ready for the Tokyo Drift Racing circuit, but it is rather satisfying getting cars sideways in this.

Apparently a few sites have had borked review code, which is going to be a problem.

Yipes. Hope EG don't do what they did with GST on the Wii.

One thing's for sure, we've got bugger all chance of getting a review copy here so it'll be a review of the retail copy.

Next question: Who's up for tackling THAT task :)

(I don't mind doing it, but I've got a sneaking suspicion I'll be too busy dicking around with the vinyl editor to actually do any writing about it!)

I would, after watching the video linked up there. Looks like fun. But I don't think it runs on a N64. :)

Mentioned in the Forza 3 DLC comments, but just in case anyone's not aware the Limited Edition is currently £40 for pre-order at Blockbusters. I would never normally go for LEs (and also never spend that much on any game) but you get a fair few decent extras in there.

Doing nicely on metacritic.

EG said:
Turn 10 has sacrificed flash for a faultless 60 frames a second, and understood that in simulation, what you feel is far more important than what you see. It has diverted all of the 360's resources to giving you the smoothest, most believable, most physically rewarding drive you've ever had. Who cares what the scenery or the tyre-smoke look like when your eyes are laser-focused on the next apex, when your fingers can feel the road surface?

Sold.

Preordered. First thing I'm doing is fully upgrading a Mini, tuning it to perfection and then selling that setup in the store.

I'll probably do the same thing I did with Forza 2 and spend hours doing an AATG logo that no one will ever see.

I demand that whoever does the review for here does it in Top Gear style.

Ulp! Yessir, sorry sir! :)

(fwiw you can laugh at those of us who ordered it and ended up falling foul of the postal strike. Fucking strike, last year it was around the time the last Harry Potter book was due - this year it's around the time that Forza and a few other great games should be dropping through my letterbox)

I want to wait on this but that £40 pre-order price is tempting. I wonder if they'll stick to it after release.

Hopefully, if the postal strike is only 2 days the backlog won't be too crippling. Gameplay have been pretty damned good at getting stuff out to me by wednesday of launch week so let's hope they manage to do that this time round.
