I had a feeling I would be making one of these posts a week or so back when I ordered the thing, and now it's happened... the PSP Go. As nice as the device is, it was a completely unnecessary purchase for me, and I'm kicking myself for not realising this before I ordered. Usually I'm very careful and selective about my purchases but in this instance I just went crazy.

The worst thing is, only some really crazy reasoning stopped me from getting a PS3 instead. This same crazy reasoning made me think that the PSP Go would be a more worthwhile purchase. That's right, better to get another expensive version of a console I already own, instead of having the chance to play the likes of Uncharted 2 and Wipeout HD. Conclusion - I'm a fucking moron.

Trade it in against a PS3 :)

I've had too many to think about. Far too many. Worst of which was undoubtly my oqo.

Wii x2.
As good as Galaxy is, it isn't worth the price of a console.
Doh.

- My headset (hardly ever use it and it's incredibly uncomfortable)
- My driving license because I could have gotten it much cheaper in NZ (200 vs 1400)
-The Gameboy colour (never really used it)
- The MacBook was a bit too expensive as well. I sometimes think one of those small ones would have been sufficient. But than I would have had to go with Windows...

Oh, and the TV. 1080p wouldn't have been necessary. :)

My ESP LTD EC-1000 in Vintage Black. 24 frets on a 24.75" scale is too tight for my long fingers :(

Probably my car. Never ever ever buy ex-fleet if you know what's good for you.

It doesn't count if the actual purchase turns out to be dodgy/faulty, Peej. :)

Well like all good used car salesmen, they made a point of saying just how reliable Toyotas were*

*if driven by vicars who only pop down to the shops once a year, not fleet car mentalists who use the car as a banger racer at weekends and an off road stunt racer during the week.

Most expensive regretted purchase would probably have to be my iPod Touch. I'm STILL getting it in the neck from the missus about it.

I deliberately haven't bought a handheld since the SP as I just never use them; was tempted when Wipeout first came out for the PSP but stayed strong...

I guess I'd go with the Wii as well. I was hoping the other half would get into it, but despite being initially impressed by the tennis and Wii Fit, she's never once switched it on of her own accord. I've enjoyed playing SMG and De Blob, but that's pretty much it so far... :(

I spent a hell of a lot on the iPhone, but don't regret it. It's an awesome gadget that's with me all the time (because it's my phone), and I've already had so much use out of it. Had to have a long think about that one but I'm glad I went for it. That's also another thing that makes the PSP Go slightly redundant, as I've already got a portable console to carry with me at all times.

oneiros - Wipeout was the biggest kicker for me. It's probably my favourite game on the PSP, so much so that after playing it on my old PSP the other day I was actually considering paying for it again to get the DL version on the PSP Go. And then it hit me... I could have been playing Wipeout in 1080p and 60fps on the PS3. D'oh.

Don't get me wrong, I love the iPod touch but I only get to use it away from home. If I even DARE whip it out of its cool Manic Miner protective Pouch, I get glared at. And by glared at I mean IN THE EARS.

That's good to hear, as I'm thinking about jumping on that particular bandwagon. ;)

Peej - but the iPod Touch is relatively cheap, considering all it can do. Around 150 for the 8GB version isn't it?

Toilet gaming's a no no here. The toilets are all used by students and make the one in the betting shop in Trainspotting look like a fragrant oasis of pleasure.

Yep, when you work at a uni you try and make your toilet breaks as short as humanely possible. :)

You'll be too old to get it up then :(

In the mean time I'm happy to fill the breach if the batteries in the old rabbit run out.

Pro Tips for Uni loos:
1) Use the disabled ones when you can. They're generally nicer and underused.
2) Find the "executive" loos and use them. Failing that I find the Media School loos to be the least grim on campus.

Tip 1's no good, there'll inevitably be someone shagging in there.

Tip 2 is also no good. The executive loos have a card key and I haven't managed to work out how to hack them yet (and even if I did, I'd probably slag off the head of department, not realising he was in one of the traps having a shit, Robocop stylee)

Lancaster Uni, Flyde College, obscure history dept toilets on 4th floor, miles from anywhere. Always used to be my shitters of choice, often over the one in our student house, thanks to Steve "Stevo" Robson and his clean drops he refused to flush.

There is one set of loos here that are usually quiet, pristeen and unbeshitted. Unfortunately they're in another building and it's fucking cold on the walk between here and there, so I don't bother.

Its odd really, people at both ends of the social spectrum, real scruffs and real toffs, both have terrible shitter manners and leave them in a real state.

The student toilets in my building actually aren't that bad, it's a modern building so they're usually pretty clean and well-maintained. I haven't really seen anything worse than what you'd usually see in a public toilet, fortunately.

Anyway... back on topic. I've seriously considered trading in the PSP against a PS3 Slim, but it would be silly to do it so soon. I hate selling stuff though so I'll probably keep it and get the PS3 anyway. I'm spending far too much money on this gaming malarkey, it's getting ridiculous now. :/

Closes thing i can offer is the medium format camera i bought. I got a bargain on a Pentax 6x7 on ebay with a 90mm LS lens. Turns out though that the flash sync was so much of apain in the arse i kept getting it wrong and sold it on. For 50 more than i paid. So i can't really complain.
