What, no thread?*

Rather looking forward to this and shall be picking it up on Friday. Just hope I can get the mrs involved with some 2 player funtimes, but will probably end up just single player.

*Didn't search THAT hard.

Yeah, no thread. I was going to create one but didn't bother.

Really looking forward to it now though. I'll probably pick it up this weekend.

"Not I" said the little red hen.

I fought with the DS versh. Not about to put myself through the same testicle torsion with the Wii :)

Binks, I thought you ditched your Wii!

That was my FIRST Wii. My second Wii has been silently glowing blue every now and then and gathering dust like everyone elses.

I loved the DS version, although looking back I'm not sure it was as good as I first thought.

I had another go on it recently to remind myself just how bastard hard it was. And it was bastard hard!

My Wii has had plenty of love recently but I'm trying to avoid putting the Wii Fit board in the cupboard again.

Well, BBC iPlayer is up today so having that 'Watch Again' capability under the telly will get the Wii running again.

Heh, 'bastard-hard' it most certainly was not - not compared to other Mario games, anyway. That's one of the issues that seems to have been addressed in this sequel.

I found it hard - but that could just be my fat fingers and the DS controls. I just kept finding forward momentum slid me off platforms to my doom far too often. Course, Wii NSMB could be completely different but I'm not willing to take the risk of being utterly shite at it (and being ritually humiliated in multiplayer!)

Wii version is supposed to be a lot harder than DS.

Ah, yes, tomorrow.

I was watching a live stream of some 4 player and some of the levels look pretty hard but would be quite easy with just one or two players. But 4 people bumping into one another really ratchets up the difficulty.

I did notice that you can hop into a bubble when you think you're about to die, but you have to be wary that if all players are dead or in a bubble then you fail and have to restart. So, you could have 2 people bubbled for trickier sections.

I rather liked NSMB on the DS - but then I'm a big mark for Mario games so I may have a blinkered view.. I don't recall finding it too difficult, but finding those big coins was a step too far for me. Anywho, I think this will be on the Christmas list :)

Realised I hadn't finished the DS version completely. World 6 was still locked, must have warped past it at some point and finished the game that way.

DS with me today. Can't wait till lunch :)

Control method with the nunchuk is a bit rubbish (but at least its offered). Surprised there's no option for gamecube controller though.

I'm trying to find time to get it.

Can you really not play using a Cube controller?

Best way has to be with the controller held sideways, shirley?

I do want this, but Dragon Age has me by the tits at the moment.

Alas no. Reliant on the silly mechanic of having to hold 1 and shake the wiimote to pick things up.

Christ that sounds awful.

How about that daft Wii Classic controller. Can you not even use that?

Don't think so. 2 choices, with or without the 'chuk.

It's a lovely game though.

I enjoyed the DS version, but probably shall not be picking this up for a few reasons:

1) NSMB was FAR too easy. I can run through the game incredibly quickly now.
2) I played the Wii version at the EG expo and it left me cold
3) None of my friends would be interested in it.
4) Wii doesn't have Xbox Live :-D

To counter yet another 'Wii is shit' argument, I think the Wii has had a much better year than most people give it credit for. Sure, NSMBWii aside there were none of the big-name 'hardcore' titles that seem to be released on the HD consoles every week, but there were plenty of decent (and often unique) games that were unfairly overlooked. A few interesting releases on WiiWare, too.

As for NSMBWii... I'll definitely be getting it (especially after reading that it's much better and harder than the DS version), just a case of when. If only so many other great-looking games weren't being released at around the same time.

There are some crackers on WiiWare at the moment, most definitely.

I don't think it's had as bad a year as the cube did in its final death throes, or even when it launched. It just tends to get stuck at the back of the queue when it comes to game-buying priorities.
