I honestly can't stop grinning.
I cry a bit when I think that by the time I come back I'll have been at this bloody place 8 years though.

My carbon footprint must be shocking.
oh well.

On a gaming front I have a lot to look forward to. I've been saving a few things for my mega break. Starting with BATMAN AA.

I'm going to continually tweet to Kat while you're off to suggest that she makes sure you do the following while you're off

1) Clean the house top to bottom EVERY DAY including hoovering and dusting.

2) Make sure that she has a cooked meal on the table EVERY EVENING and that you make her a packed lunch every morning

3) Dogs / pets must be exercised and fully groomed

4) A backrub every evening (but not the pervy kind)

5) Hot milky drink (not the pervy kind) to be made for her before bed

6) Hot sensual bath (not the pervy kind) to be run every evening at her request.

Once you've done with that lot, you're allowed the required 30 minutes gaming per day.

Mother Fu...

I tell you what WILL be hard (not the pervy kind) is keeping up my fitness whilst I'm off.

I've lost 3 stone since the summer, and most of that has been healthier eating and use of the free gym at work. If I put half of that back on whilst slobbing I'm in trouble!!

So healthy snacks and drink suggestions welcomed.

I've already subbed crisps for pittas. Will have to have a NO BOOZE rule in force during most week days too. Gah!

Will be walking the dog EVERY morning (unless its pishing down) to make sure I have an hours walk before doing F-all for the rest of the day :)

Mr Binks

Dog walk blah blah...

As a bit of a day-off veteran I have some sensible advice. This is in addition to Peej's insightful comments.

1) pretend to be asleep until you here the door close on her way to work

2) ignore everything Peej just said

3) I've been here 13 years and still waiting for my 6 weeks off. You truely are mr King Cnut

I've just had 5 months off sick. This is the second day I've been in in that time.

How I didn't go mad... or blind. I don't know.

I'm absolutely petrified of days off because I work far harder than I do at work. A day off for me consists of:

1) 5.30 AM start when the nipper wakes up coughing like she's been smoking 80 woodbines

2) Sleepy breakfast, most of which will end up on the wall / floor / the nipper

3) Dress, nappy change. Then I'll do the same for the nipper

4) Scrape myself together into enough consciousness to think of something to keep her entertained for the day that doesn't a) involve expensive things being broken or covered in jam or b) doesn't involve deep hypnosis, loading sippy cups with alcohol or gaffa taping the nipper to the inside of her cot to stop her from wandering around like a miniature version of Godzilla

5) 2 hour sleep window in the afternoon, during which time I'm inevitably trying to restore the house to some sort of working order

6) After the 2 hour sleep window finishes (usually 1 hour and 59 minutes early) repeat steps 3 and 4 until bedtime or the missus comes home and I throw myself on her mercy

We've got a consultant in working out how my department works for the director who has responsibility for it dumped in his lap.

As I've already been through this in my last job and have watched Office Space about a dozen times I may have some time on my hands in the future too!

At least my redundancy terms are pretty insane. :-)

I finish next Friday, but I don't know if I'm coming back yet ! The job I thought I'd got has fallen through, and although they extended my contract here until next week, I don't know if it'll be renewed for the new year yet.

Next friday's my last day and it's going to be hella busy. Quick christmas dinner scoffed down, then on to the nursery's carol concert and nosh up.

After that, two blissful weeks off!

Blissful? With a two year old? My Saturdays tend to run like this:

Up 5am with youngest
7am add toddler Sam to the mix
10am, wife makes her way downstairs
12 Lunch
1-2pm baby naps, toddler plays/sulks/hits things
3-5 long dark tea time of the soul
5-6 dinner
6-7 bedtime routine
7-8 tidy up/chores
8-10 other stuff/bit of free time.

Indeed! It's a wonder Peej still manages to get through the amount of games he does. :)

I have nine days off from Tuesday 22nd onwards. Plenty of shit to sort out, but also loads of gaming time too hopefully.

I don't know how I've managed to complete a hell of a lot of games this year, given what my normal days are like (and my weekends).

Either games are getting easier, or I'm some kind of mushroom-cloud-laying gaming muthafucka.

I think it's that they're getting easier personally.

As far as selling parenthood goes, that moment - that one moment when your nipper looks you right in the eye and says "Daddy" and smiles - that's worth any amount of the icky stuff.

Any amount.

I don't have to go back to uni for the rest of the school year (which goes till May, and then holiday).

A couple of essays to write, but I can do it all from home.

CHILLIN'!

Depressingly, I'll probably not make the most of the free time.
