Lots of new games out at the moment - Children of Mana, Contact, Starfox Command, Actionloop, and (next week) Magical Starsign - the thing is, for every good review or gamer's impressions I see, I see two or three bad ones. That doesn't worry me a lot, I'll pick up one or two of those anyhow, it just makes the decision process harder.

Any thoughts?

Got Actionloop (as Magnetica) and Magical Starsign for my partner a while ago. Actionloop is a good "puzzler", but it's a bit more twitch gameplay than something like Zoo Keeper. Ramps up the difficulty quite quickly too. I haven't played Magical Starsign but am told it's really very good.

The other three really have attracted a lot of negative reviews. Put me off them, myself.

I've had Children of Mana for a few weeks now and I've only played it for a couple of hours, and I don't really feel any incentive to pick it up again. It's a shame because it's absolutely gorgeous looking, but it's just so mind-numbingly dull.

My order of preference:

1) Contact - I found it quite fun, but can sometimes be a grind
2) Starfox Command - Good fun battles, very light strategy in between. You might tire of it fairly quick but I've kept it for the odd bit of dogfighting (until DS Air comes out, if it's any good)
3) Children of Mana - Nice dungeon crawl, not much story and pretty repetitive.
4) Magical Starsign - nice little RPG, seems a bit too "cutesy" for me and not very engaging, but the mechanics behind the game itself seem pretty solid
5) Actionloop - You'll get bored of it in 5 minutes. Zoo Keeper, Meteos, Picross and Brain Training are all much, much better.

I read an interesting review of Contact earlier, it sounded absolutely fantastic in pretty much every way, until they started mentioning the game play :P Ended up getting 6/10 but said the gameplay was awful, everything else was amazing though. Probably worth a try as the others in your list (imo) aren't much cop.

I see the thread pretty much EXPLODED. Cheers anyway. ;)

Picked up Contact now. Like it so far.

Dr. Haggard put me off CoM, I was hoping it'd tingle the Diablo/Titan Quest senses. Seems not.

Isn't Contact from the same guys as Killer7? If it is then it'll be on my list just for that.

It is, but hopefully it's absolutely nothing like Killer 7.

That's precisely what I was hoping too, but it did nothing for me. If you ever get the chance to pick it up cheap then it might worth it.
