Thanks! I'm really proud of the big fishes that the player controls, so basic in terms of logic, but to me at least the movement feels just right. :)
The sunset setting was really more of accident. Was scrolling through the different fog colours and suddenly noticed that orange looked surprisingly good. :)

Can you dynamically change that? I can't remember but that might be quite a neat trick if you can fade from the sunset colours to dark then through to daylight.

Yep, with the global lighting tool.

PS: I've just published that level by the way.

Played it and it's excellent work as ever. Wasn't that convinced by the way you were trying to represent movement (with the 'endless conveyor belt' sea floor) but it still looks awesome and really atmospheric.

Had a go at producing a decent motorbike model last night. Worked OK (using a controllinator placed just right, handlebars, floating rear arm suspension with a spring bolt through it)

Rigged the controllinator up so that the triggers drove the back wheel forwards / backwards, and tweaking the stick operated a couple of rotators for the bike's body (so you get that Trials HD style movement for wheelies, movement through the air) but realised I'm utterly SHITE at designing decent scenery for a game that would feature a dirt bike. Bah.

Will have another stab at it tonight.

Glad you enjoyed it. :)
Yeah, I made use of the conveyor belt trick simply because I thought that would be easier than building the whole seafloor and then moving the boat and net.

I also worked a bit more on my motorbike. Went for the no moving parts option (aside from the wheels of course) because I had trouble with making a believable and stable suspension. My main problem right now is making a good looking driver (or is it rider?). Right now I have a Sackbot sitting in a controlinator.

You're probably sensible to go for the no moving parts option. The suspended back forks on my bike don't really add much to the gameplay (in fact they are a pain in the arse as a spring bolt even on 100% strength is still far too springy and I've never got the other spring types to work very well for me).

I did think of going with a rider 'avatar' rather than a Sackperson but I couldn't get anything that looked natural enough and moved properly as the bike hit jumps and stuff. Sack Person is a bit more animated so even though sitting in a controllinator they looked like they were adopting the wrong riding stance, it still looked better than my attempts at modelling a rider.

Trailer for the Move pack

A brand new story theme for LittleBigPlanet 2 – The Rise of the Cakeling with 14 new levels (5 levels, 7 mini games and 2 cutscenes)
A new powerup for Sackboy: The Brain Crane
3 huge new powerful gadgets for use with PlayStation®Move: The Movinator, The Move Recorder, The Paint Tool
4 Interactive Music Tracks
8 Music Sequencer Tracks
A new Sound Object containing 32 new sounds
17 new Music Sequencer Instruments
A new level background
6 New Costumes
18 Materials
41 Decorations
13 Objects
66 Stickers
39 new Pins
11 new Trophies

The paint tools could finally open LBP up to truly different looking games I think. So far you could almost always tell that a level was made in LBP.

Dang, that does sound pretty feature packed.

I still don't know if I'm going to be any good at painting / creating with a move controller. If only there was a way to use it like a giant pencil on a flat surface rather than having to draw in the air :)

Hah it might come to that.

I had a good go at Beat Sketcher and tried to use that as a freeform drawing tool. My only concern is that LBP 2 still doesn't like any large or complex shapes but it should be awesome for drawing logos and stuff.

My Persian style level is almost done now. It's rather short, but I focused more on how it looks and sounds than how it plays so the thermometer didn't last very long.
Here is a picture of the more run down part of the village outside of the palace.

Dark and mysterious! Looks good!

I know what you mean about the themometer. I'm a bugger for filling the thing up by using stick-on objects. Those things just eat the thermo up double quick.

I'll have to give that a go later on.

Been spending a bit of time twiddling with the move stuff. I think the Move Recorder is a seriously neat work of genius for producing machinima. It's almost like having a realtime 'waldo' for manipulating your characters. Makes me wish MediaMolecule did some sort of a Muppets pack :)

A muppets costume kit was announced before release and was said to arrive shortly after the release. Gonzo was available through pre-orders, I think. Might be it gets released around the same time the movie comes out.

Oooh that could be superb. Though I have a strange affinity with the muppets. Probably because I am Beaker's twin.

Without the mad orange hair of course.

Move pack gets the thumbs up from me (and on the front page too) so far.

I made - or rather remade - another level. Ancient Hoops is a basketball level of sorts. Essentially it's the same as my LBP1 level SlamBall, but a bit faster and at least in my opinion more fun.
And prettier, but that's a given seeing as I learned a lot in the 2 years since I first published it and LBP2 allows you to make prettier levels anyway.

There is a new Muppets level kit coming next week. That's five levels and a new material/tweaker that allows you to walk on walls. Should be good. :)

So did Borderlands completely sweep anyone bothering with the Vita version of this at the weekend then?

Pity, was looking forward to hearing some early impressions of it...

I was actually really tempted to download the PSN version over the weekend, but ended up playing a bit of the PSP version again instead. That's still really good, but the problem is I never had any inclination to try user-created levels, or even try creating myself.

Since LBP Vita is a lot like LBP2 though, from what I've read the creating tools are much better and there's a lot more scope for variety. I've been put off a little by all the added touch-screen nonsense, but apparently the game is better than the PS3 versions, so I'll definitely be picking it up at some stage.

I decided that I will try and complete RayMan Origins before picking this up. I shall be picking it up though, especially as wifey said "Can you get that one, I want to see it".

Cat will love it but it probably means she'll stop DrawSomething-ing with me if she gets hooked on that. Oh and you'll lose your Vita too, obviously :)
