Anyone else feeling really apathetic at the moment?

There's Split/Second Velocity, Blur and Red Dead Redemption due out any time soon. Yet I can't muster up the enthusiasm to play anything other than Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer.

Am I alone?

Nope but I think I'm suffering from general life apathy (hence the EG account delete).

Getting up at 5am with a hyper toddler is probably the main contributing factor- by the time it comes to some personal time after they've gone to bed, I'm too knackered to even read a book.

A bit, but I put it down to there simply not being many good games at the moment. I don't consider any of the games you mentioned must have's. 3D dot hero's is tempting but I don't have to have that right now either.

I'm looking forward to Red Dead more than any other game I can remember, it just looks so good!

I think this one might last me most of the summer tbh.

I had a moment of feeling like I was drowning in games over the weekend with four vying for attention, but coming out of that weird feeling of having a stacked shelf of games and not wanting to play any of 'em, I'm definitely not complaining.

There's been loads of games released this year, but apart from playing through old PSP games I never finsihed when I go for a dump, I haven't played anything on a console in nearly 2 months.

I turned my PS3 on to download Abe's Oddyssee the night before last, which I played for half an hour last night. Can't seem to be arsed with anything recent, though.

I have loads of games close to completion that I enjoyed I just cant be arsed to put them in and finish them though. would much rather play something new or Halo, Modern Warfare, Left 4 Dead

General rule of thumb if I Don't complete a game in under a week it wont get completed!

Nope, I'm with you there Hairy - I still haven't finished Fallout 3 or even unwrapped Mirrors Edge. I did play Arkham last year, but I've yet to play an actual game on my 360 in 2010. I have played Angry Birds on the phone though, and bought the latest Phoenix Wright the other week.

I have work apathy as it's getting in the way of playing the huge amount of games I've been buying, 2010 is looking like a great year for gaming.

Steam doing stuff cheap now and again isn't helping, Tropico 3 stole three hours last night I could have been playing Alan Wake, BC2, LP2, DoW2 or something else that doesn't have 2 at the end.

It is, and we're nowhere near the crunch release period of Sept/Oct/Nov/Dec

May's been bonkers so far and it's not going to get any easier in the next couple of weeks.

Mario Gaalxy 2! Otherwise meh.

I'm still playing Mass Effect 2 as it happens, not that I've put a great deal of time into it, but I only seem to get about an hour a week for gaming at the moment. Definitely going to finish it up before Mario comes along though.

I can only play one game at a time or i find myself getting bored if i try to play more and one will be left by the wayside, atm its Alan Wake which i have almost finished then i will buy Red Dead and then try playing the backlog of games i have which include ME1, ME2, Fallout 3 + all DLC (dont ask). MW2, The Darkness and 3 XBLA games.

Hmm SMG2 might just be the game that gets me back in love again.

The strange thing is that I could genuinely play MW2 online for four hours a night and that'd be enough for me. I love it, but simultaneously hate how much of my life it takes up already, and could take up if I let it. I must be well over 10 days total multiplayer time spent now, which is scarey.

I seem to have royally broken my new year's resolution about not picking stuff up on day of release.

It's just so hard not to :(

I need addiction therapy.

The only gaming apathy I have is that the Wii Sam bought is just sat gathering dust.

If you'd have asked me ten days ago I'd have told you that I was ready to sell the Xbox and sack the whole lot in. As it stands, I've just gotten back into "dip in" games like Trials HD and Skate 2. I've also "clicked" with Mass Effect despite it having a save system designed by utter cunts.

I *am* wishing there were a way to get refunds for Live titles though - the demo of Shadow Complex didn't quite explain just how utterly twattish a game it actually is

I think we're... growing up.

I keep turning the xbox on and then sit staring at the dashboard, flick through my games and either turn it off or play Battlefield/Fifa.

That said I am looking forward to Red Dead. After that though, I'm not sure there's anything left for me this year. Perhaps Fallout NV, but with a baby on the way I think that'll end up being my "xmas" game.

The only games I've been playing lately is my collection of point and click adventures after installing ScummVM on my phone!

I seem to go through periods of just not being bothered about playing games, then I'll go buck wild and spend all my spare time gaming. My only concern at the moment is the number of unfinished games I have is getting out of hand.

Red Dead is the last game I'll be buying until I work through my backlog of titles.

Crackdown 2, FM2011, Civ 5 and FIFA 11 are the only things I can think of that I can be bothered with for the rest of the year. There are few story driven games that I enjoy and open world games are only of interest if I can play the entire thing co-op (preferably on 360 as that works). Every racing games has merged into a combination of others that I've played to death years ago.

Buy Critter Crunch for less than 2.50 in the PSN Special Offers and enjoy yourselves.

Nothing was really doing it for me recently and I've bought that on a whim as it's on special and it's fucking lovely. Reminds me of the 8-bit/16-bit era when it was all about fun.

Other than Geometry Wars 2, I don't think it'll be rivalled for gaming fun per pound spend in a long time.

I was looking forward to Crackdown until I heard they'd gone all multiplayer on it. For that reason I'm holding fire on it until reviews/opinions hit.

I tried Critter Crunch, KM, but really don't see what people like about it. That said, I still love Drop 7 on the iPod

I only play FM2010 (watch film/tv/browse internet at the same time) and FIFA (multiplayer vs brother online) now.

When you're not playing a game because you can't be bothered to turn the TV on then I'm not sure any game is going to be much fun.

If you mean the demo Rhythm then I shared your same thoughts. When it dropped in price I thought it was worth a punt still and I can't believe how much better the game is once you learn the nuances and also once the difficulty increases.

I've been in that zone for ages :( I almost dont consider myself a gamer anymore its that bad. Most played game I have is Lips :(

Maybe its a three pronged attack of age, snakes with tits and having enough disposable income as an adult that I dont feel the need to play every game to death.

I've still not touched MW2, BC2, Batman or Alan Wake, all of which I bought on launch day.

But I do now know the words to My Sharona.

One thing this thread demonstrates is just how diverse gaming tastes here really are. For all the "I'm totally bored with gaming" posts I've seen stuff where people have gone off and explored other gaming experiences to try and stave off the boredom.

Doesn't mean I'm going to get into RPGs or MMOs any time soon (apart from Fallout 3 which suddenly 'clicked' with me recently).

Meh.

I agree with you about Just Cause. If you like sandbox gaming there's probably nothing better out there, but for me it just doesn't do anything.

I notice a lot of people are mentioning SMG2 will be the game to get them out of their apathy... is it really that good then? The first one certainly didn't get me out of that mindset, bought it on release and still haven't actually played it :$
