Used the "10% off anything in Argos" voucher in today's Mirror to grab a PS3 + TLOU for 179.

I AM BACK IN THE GAME

I take it you went for the Super Slim then? They're really not as bad as everyone seems to think. :)

Quieter than my original 60GB PS3, that's for sure.

In all practical terms I can't hear it.

Hum, so I switched on my PS3 today to tale advantage of my spanking new plus subscription. Tried to download Ico & SotC HD Collection and get a message saying 'There is not enough space left on the system'.

Now, Ico & SotC are only 1.5Gb or thereabouts, and according to System Settings->System Information I have 13Gb free, so I'm wondering if my HD is about to die. It's possible - I did buy the system at launch in the UK so it's pretty long in the tooth now. Would be annoying if so though, what with me just having bought the PS+ subs. Mind you, I guess a replacement HD shouldn't be all that pricey these days.

Any opinions on what might be the cause other than HD death?

Strange. I do know that they way PS3 downloads stuff from PSN, you effectively need double the space from on your HDD, but with 13GB free you should be fine...

Maybe try deleting something and trying again...?

Just to add that now you've tried to download it, the game will forever be available for you to download from the store provided your Plus subscription is still valid...

Yeah I've been reading about the double space issue... I can understand the reasons for it but it's pretty rubbish that it doesn't tell you that anywhere. But anyway, I don't believe that's my problem. I have some game data that I can delete (I don't think I've looked in that folder since I bought the thing so I'm sure there's plenty of redundant stuff in there), and apparently I can 'Rebuild Database' if that fails. If neither works I'll try clearing off more games and maybe a reformat. At least with my plus subscription I can back up my saves to the cloud now.

(And yes, I spotted that my purchases would be saved, nice to know!)

Ah, crisis averted - I had about 20 Gb of game data on there, deleted that and the downloads work just fine. Excellent stuff.
