Christ almighty, Autumn next year is going to be a bit mental. So far though, 2011 doesn't look like it's going to do my wallet any favours even in Q1. So what are AATGers sticking down on their lists for 2011? Me: LittleBigPlanet 2 (well it'd be rude not to) Test Drive Unlimited 2 The Elder Scrolls 4 (no, really, despite the beards) Resistance: Fall of Man 3 (looks stunning) Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception Forza 4 Journey (which looks brilliant) Arkham City SSX 4 Um, probably a shedload more to come... |
|||
| |||
LittleBigPlanet 2 obviously and aside from that I'm looking forward to Dust, Journey and Uncharted 3. I will also keep an eye on Dirt 3 and Testdrive Unlimited 2, but I'm not sure I will actually get those 2. Really want Dirt 3 to be a good rally game. Just one car on a narrow track against time. Oh, and Ico/Shadow of the Colossus HD are also likely candidates. |

DOH! Ditto on Dirt3, Ico HD and SOTC HD (The latter two could possibly include The Last Guardian if team ico get it done in time) |

Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception Batman Arkham City Ico and SOTC HD The Last Guardian Tomb Raider 2011 Mass Effect 3 Dragon Age 2 Diablo 3 |

Diablo 3 Uncharted 3 Arkham City 3 A couple of indie PC games that I can't remember the names of 3. Completely indifferent to the rest so far. |
|||
| |||
Zelda: Skyward Sword (natch - though expectations are a lot lower than usual) Batman: Arkham City Portal 2 Elder Scrolls: Skyrim Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3DS :) 3DS release and (hopefully) launch titles - Pilotwings, Resi Evil etc. |

Second Edgeworth game Ghost Trick Uncharted 3 LBP2 SSX Deadly Descents Ico/SotC Last Guardian Journey |

The PS3 exclusives next year mostly look highly meh but there's still quite a few great looking games hitting next year: TDU2 Skyrim LA Noire Batman 2 Uncharted 3 Journey I Am Alive Man vs Wild Almost all of those are must-buys for me. |

Only game I am prepared to *guarantee* I will play next year: Catherine I will make a longer list at some point, as I really would like to look at some upcoming schedules and such. |

Yup that definitely warrants a look. I'm still wondering whether it'll be released "uncut" in the west. |

Seriously? No mention of MvC3? You guys DISGUST me. DISGUST. FUCKING DISGUST. |

Also, I am all over a 3DS now. Day one. Probably. I've had 130 quid sitting on a rewards card for gamestation for a month or so now, and that's going straight to Nintendo as soon as I see F-Zero moving. You had your chance, Sony. You and Kaz totally fucking blew it. |

Still not convinced by the 3DS. It has that whiff of Nintendo-ness about it. There's bound to be something wrong with it - like Ninty have attached razor blades to the underside of the case that mash your hands to pieces after prolonged gaming sessions on it. |

Completly forgot inFamous 2... :( |

Nah, you're getting them mixed up with Sony - it's the PSP that always gets something wrong. :) The 3DS is pretty much the same design as the original DS, with the addition of a decent-looking analogue stick. I personally had no problems with the design or aesthetics of the DS, so I'm happy they've left it that way. What in particular are you not convinced with? |
|||
| |||
For starters the shape - The original DS and even the DS Slim are bastards to hold for any length of time (granted, the PSP is far far worse though because of the positioning of the analogue nub and the stupid unresponsive shoulder buttons). Secondly I've not seen anything on it that shows it's any better than a 2G iPod Touch for 3D visuals. The Resi game looked amazing but I'd want to see that as actual gameplay before I'd be convinced. Thirdly there's the price. It's going to be expensive. Granted again it probably won't be as pricey as the PSP 2 but if I'm going to buy any more dedicated portable gaming stuff I'm going to want to know it's not going to be cripplingly priced, nor are the games (something Nintendo haven't exactly climbed on board with in the past. DS games are still stupidly expensive) |
|||
| |||
I'm hoping the console will be sensibly priced at around £180, which to be fair is still a lot for a portable. As for software, first-party stuff never tends to go down (always been the case with Nintendo), but everything else gets reduced quite quickly - certainly no less than games on other consoles. In terms of power, the console is never going to compete with Apple stuff, or the PSP2 - that much is for sure. But the 3D should balance things out slightly, it'll make games look much better in motion than in static screenshots or video clips, and no doubt there'll be some devs (not least Nintendo themselves) who'll work wonders with the limited hardware. |
|||
| |||
I remember being pretty unconvinced about the DS when it first came out (mainly because I'd seen someone's PSP by that time) but now the DS is used more than the PSP - so it could end up being the same with the 3DS. It needs a real killer app though, something I've not seen on any other platform. I'm a 3D naysayer anyway so the extra "dimension" won't be enough of a hook. But if they somehow manage to produce a decent Resident Evil game with better controls I might be won over. And as Stevas said, if there's even a whiff of a proper 3D F-Zero I'll have some of that. Or the Pilotwings game if it turns out to be spectacular. No Lovely Lisa 3D for me though, ta. |

I would like to see all sequels cancelled and devs given free reign to maximise their creativity. /dreams |

Add Tales Of Xillia to my list. |

Planning on a gaming diet for next year. Only really interested in Uncharted 3, LBP2 and the ICO/SotC HD collection. That said, I'm hoping SSX4, Resistance 3 and TDU2 are all good enough to warrant me buying them. I'm also hoping something like Brink turns out to be excellent. Unlikely I'll be buying any new Hardware in 2011. |

I think I probably say this every year but I'm going to try and hedge my bets a bit more with new releases and not just go nuts for everything on day one. Except Motorstorm Apocalypse, which I will definitely make an exception for. |

I had quite a 'light' gaming year this year - I've only played Uncharted 2, Mass Effect 2 (yeah, I know that was 2009 but it was pretty slow going), Mario Galaxy 2 and Halo: Reach, and you know what? I've absolutely loved it. I've finished every single game I've played this year and in most cases have seen pretty much everything the game has to offer in the process - such as getting to 120 stars in MG2, something I haven't done with a Mario game since Mario 64. And I had a lot more spare time back then. So I think next year I'll be taking the same approach - just a handful of games that I'm really looking forward to, taking my time with them and really getting my money's worth. Currently my list is Mass Effect 3, Uncharted 3, and The Last Guardian if it comes along (which I'm not sure it will). And probably Journey, because I love thatgamecompany's work. Unusually for me I'm completely uninterested in any of Nintendo's offerings for next year at the moment - the Wii Zelda looks a bit ropey as far as I can tell and I just can't bring myself to get excited about playing 3D games on a tiny screen. |

Due to some incredible lack of spare time I seem to be lagging approximately 12 months behind new releases. So I'm looking at a relatively disappointing 2011 as 2010 didn't seem very impressive at all from the sidelines. All I know is that once you're used to spending between 10-15 quid it's very hard to look at the 38 quid mail order prices and still keep a straight face. iPad isn't helping this either. |

The last game I paid full price for was Red Dead Redemption! My 2011 wishlist - Mass Effect 2 PS3 Elder Scrolls V Uncharted 3 Resistance 3 Arkham City LBP2 FIFA 12 (every year I say I'm not going to buy the new FIFA, but I always do) Dragon Age 2 Infamous 2 Out of those only Uncharted 3 and Elder Scrolls V will be definite full price purchases. The rest I can wait for until they hit the bargain bin ;-) |
|||

I'm always lagging behind new releases, but quite frankly I don't give a fuck. If a game is good and worth playing, its release date is irrelevant. Over the next few months I'm planning on playing Mass Effect 1 and 2, possibly Red Dead Redemption once it drops in price a bit more, and maybe pick up some of this year's hidden 'gems' like Nier. A game would have to be very special indeed for me to pay more than £30 for it, and none of next year's releases look that way to me (although Arkham City might be a day one purchase, and I'll probably go crazy over the 3DS, as I tend to do with new portables). Edit: Erm yeah, forgot about Zelda. That's one of those special cases too. |
