No thread for this?! You guys make me feel normal! :)

Some ingamefootage on this trailer.

The combat seems like Oblivion just a bit more polished... Not that excited... The Fallout combat is better because of the VATS system, if you don't use is just as awful as the Oblivion one... :(

Hope the combat and the NPCs are alot better on this one!

I think it looks lovely in a more, better Oblivion kind of way. Oblivion is an all-time favorite for me, so every improvement on that games systems/looks will make me happier.

The character models look better, which is great. If the dialog system is an improved version of Fallout 3 I'd be happy.

Will be playing on PC this time, as I've been jealous of the graphics and mods Oblivion had for ages. I'll need decent pad support hough.

Maybe I should play Oblivion one of these days after buying the game and the LE game and guide on day one. :s

Haha :) Not sure how pleasant it'd be to go back to on the 360 after all this time there were obvious rough edges even back then.

This wasn't anywhere on my radar till I saw the last trailer.

The game world looks stunning. A lot more work seems to have gone into the design of the buildings. If nothing else, it'll be a great game to be a virtual tourist in.

After being a bit disappointed with the Dragon Age 2 demo I'm hoping this isn't going to be a hideous buggy meltdown of a game.

Really?! I really enjoyed the demo on the PC, well visually at least the character model look brilliant and the world also looks nice, shame they completly ruined the fucking combat, that clearly was one of the high points from the first one.

On that case I really must say that it was dumbed down for the console chavs... :(

Ultimately I found Fallout 3 really dull, but my love for Oblivion is well known, and this looks really nice.

Bump! This is out next week. I won't have a chance to play it, but I thought I post this link that was posted on EG to the full theme song.

I've promptly ripped the audio from that to put it on my iPod. Should be good running music. :)

Not on my radar but out the same time as CODMW? Phew, that's going to be a tough choice for some people...

Tough choice for me because it's out a week before Zelda. No surprises for guessing which one wins out - it's also the sensible choice imo, since Skyrim is bound to have technical issues on release.

Yeah, I would be surprised if this doesn't suffer from a ton of bugs.

Now as a big fan on Fallout 3 and New Vegas, but having never played Oblivion, I can't decide whether to get this or not...

The fantasy setting just doesn't turn me on as much as Fallout's post-apocalyptic one, and I'm not sure if I fancy the sword & sorcery thing, as I'd much prefer a Hunter's Rifle and a PowerFist.

But then I also loved Demon's Souls and it's the gameplay of the current-gen Fallouts that I love - surely Skyrim should be a further enhancement of this...?

If Oblivion is anything to go by the sword play will be a major disappointment if you've played Demon's Souls.

I'm guessing it'll be very similar to the melee combat in the Fallout games - i.e. incredibly basic. But then again combat isn't the focus of the game, unlike in Dark Souls.

I too prefer the post-apocalyptic gunplay of Fallout, rather than the fantasy setting of Skyrim. However, it does result in much more varied and colourful locales. So if you love the whole exploring/questing/looting aspect of these games, then it should be a no-brainer really. Especially since, from what I've read, in many respects the game is closer to F3 than Oblivion (in terms of levelling-up, stats, perks etc.).

Not sure I can bring myself to buy this knowing that there will be a GOTY edition later, also Bethesda have quite a history of not bothering to fix bugs.

We I know DS is more combat focussed, and as you say, Skyrim (live Fallout) is a much about the exploration, quests and loot etc. Makes it sound very tempting.

@ Ace Grace: Good point and seeing how quickly New Vegas tumbled in price and the fact that I've only completed 1 of the DLCs, perhaps I'll wait a bit :)

What I liked most about Oblivion (I haven't spend much time with Morrowind) was just wandering around. I hope that this time around the world doesn't get filled up with demons and high level enemies as you level up/progress in the main story.

Oblivion had that issue with enemies levelling up with you (from what I read, never played the game) that everyone complained about, apparently that's been fixed in Skyrim.

Also, the GOTY edition will most likely be a long way away, probably well over a year if the recently announced ultimate edition of New Vegas is anything to go by...

I also went via Amazon, just because they were cheapest and I'm not so fussed about day one for this game. I expect it to be GOTY, but with it being a single player game I'll be playing until well into next year (in theory), I can wait until Monday (in fact, I can wait until next Wednesday when I will actually be off work...).

Nooooo!

Legitimately off sick today, for the first time in months. Shopto took my money on monday, despatched yesterday... and it's not here! Bastard!!!

On the other hand, MW3 has arrived, and I couldn't give a toss. :(

Legitimately going into work whilst sick here, although since I wasn't expecting Skyrim today either I didn't have that tough choice to make. ;)

(I also work with several people who at least deserve to catch whatever I have, rather than kids who arguably don't)

Only a loony goes back on a Friday. Turn it into a two-dayer...

Could have had this week off with a sinus infection, but toughed it out so far...

Just went into my local to try to prise a copy off them today.

"Skryim's out tomorrow, right?"

"Yes"

"Can I order one for tomorrow?"

Sure enough he looks up at his stash shelf, hidden from view, to check stock.

"Yes you can"

"Can I have one today?"

"No"

"Oh, worth a try...."

14.00 CET tomorrow and it's mine. That'll do for me :-)

/glares at Steam not letting me install it

/knew this would probably happen

I would possibly have taken tomorrow off to have a nice long weekend but my department moves from its shitty current location (the part of the hospital that was built as a temporary ward block in the 1940s) to a modular, prefab building that'll probably be in use until 3000AD.

No way around that unfortunately but I have said I didn't want to work over the weekend, even for some nice overtime.
